Project Overview

Our client, a global management consulting firm, is supporting a leading private sector bank in India on an AI-led operations transformation project. The engagement focuses on automating trade finance and remittance processes to improve operational efficiency, accuracy and turnaround times.

They are looking to onboard a Trade Finance Operations Specialist who will bring strong hands-on experience in back-end trade finance operations. The consultant will work closely with consulting, business and technology teams to provide domain expertise, validate existing processes and support the design of automation solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide domain expertise on end-to-end trade finance operations, including transaction processing, document scrutiny, validation and discrepancy handling.
• Explain existing operational workflows, process steps, checks and compliance requirements to support automation design.
• Work with consulting, business and technology teams to define and validate business requirements and automation rules.
• Support the documentation of workflows, business requirements and process-level validations.
• Review proposed automation solutions to ensure they accurately reflect real-world trade finance operations.
• Support testing, UAT and implementation by validating automated workflows against existing operational processes.
• Identify opportunities to simplify processes, reduce manual effort and improve operational efficiency.

Your Background

• Around 6–10 years of experience in back-end trade finance operations within large banks or relevant financial services institutions; candidates with more experience may also be considered if they have strong hands‑on expertise.
• Practical experience in trade finance transaction processing, document scrutiny, validation and discrepancy resolution.
• Strong understanding of trade finance products and processes, such as Letters of Credit (LCs), Bank Guarantees (BGs), bill discounting and collections.
• Familiarity with operational controls, compliance requirements and end-to-end trade finance workflows.
• Experience working with business or technology teams on process improvement, digitisation or automation initiatives would be an advantage.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain operational processes clearly to multiple stakeholders.

• Contract Duration: 6 months initially, with possibility of extension depending on project requirements.
• Engagement type: Full-time, on-site consultant.
