Job summary

3i Infotech Limited in Chennai is seeking a Tools & Automation Engineer to manage IT infrastructure monitoring and automate routine tasks to improve availability and reduce manual effort.

You will configure monitoring tools, develop scripts in Python/PowerShell/Bash, build dashboards, and integrate with ITSM platforms, ensuring alerts are accurate and incidents resolved within SLAs.

Qualifications

• Experience configuring and maintaining monitoring tools for servers, networks, apps, and infrastructure services.
• Proficiency in scripting (Python, PowerShell, or Bash).
• Experience with Ansible or similar automation platforms.
• Knowledge of Windows Server, Linux, networking, and virtualization.
• Experience with REST API integrations and Git.
• Familiarity with ServiceNow or other ITSM tools.
• Understanding of incident, problem, and change management processes.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Configure and maintain monitoring tools for servers, networks, applications, and infrastructure services.

• Create and maintain dashboards, monitoring thresholds, alerts, and escalation rules.
• Automate infrastructure configuration and operational tasks using Ansible or similar tools.
• Integrate monitoring platforms with ITSM tools for automated incident creation and tracking.
• Troubleshoot monitoring failures, automation errors, and integration issues.
• Tune alerts to reduce duplication and improve accuracy.
• Coordinate with infrastructure and application teams to resolve incidents within agreed SLAs.
• Maintain automation scripts in version control and document procedures and runbooks.
• Provide shift handovers and operational support in a 247 environment.

Location: Chennai
Shift: 247 rotational shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as per the roster.

Role Overview

Manage IT infrastructure monitoring tools and automate routine operational activities to improve system availability, reduce manual effort, and support efficient IT operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Configure and maintain monitoring tools for servers, networks, applications, and infrastructure services.
• Develop automation scripts using Python, PowerShell, or Bash for health checks, reporting, patching, and routine administration.
• Create and maintain dashboards, monitoring thresholds, alerts, and escalation rules.
• Automate infrastructure configuration and operational tasks using Ansible or similar tools.
• Integrate monitoring platforms with ITSM tools for automated incident creation and tracking.
• Troubleshoot monitoring failures, automation errors, and integration issues.

Required Skills

• Hands-on experience with monitoring tools such as Zabbix, Nagios, SolarWinds, SCOM, ManageEngine, or equivalent platforms.
• Proficiency in at least one scripting language: Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
• Experience with Ansible or similar automation platforms.
• Working knowledge of Windows Server, Linux, networking, and virtualization.
• Experience with REST API integrations and Git.
• Familiarity with ServiceNow or other ITSM tools.
• Understanding of incident, problem, and change management processes.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.

Preferred Skills

• Exposure to AWS or Azure monitoring and automation.
• Familiarity with Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
• Knowledge of Grafana, Prometheus, or Elastic Stack.
• Exposure to Docker and Kubernetes.

Qualification

Bachelors degree or diploma in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.

Candidates must be willing to work in 247 rotational shifts.
