Job summary

Quest Global is seeking an experienced electrical testing engineer to join our team working on thermal power plants. You will be responsible for testing and commissioning generator control and protection systems at site, ensuring reliable operation and safety.

You will travel across countries to sites as required, perform interface checks between panels, and execute comprehensive tests before and after GT start-up, including grid-compliance testing per NERC/IEEE standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in testing and commissioning electrical systems for thermal power plants.
• Hands-on experience with generator control, excitation systems, and protection relays.
• Strong understanding of generator main circuit, synchronization, and interlock logic.
• Experience with grid compliance standards (NERC, IEEE).

Job description

Work Scope: You will be responsible for testing and commissioning electrical equipment related to generator control and protection systems at thermal power plant sites.

Candidates must be willing to travel to site as per requirement across countries.

Equipment Includes:

• Generator Exciters
• Static Frequency Converters (SFC)
• Generator Control Panels
• Protection Relays for Generator/Transformer
• Auto Synchronizers

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform testing of generator-related panels and circuits at site
• Conduct interface checks between panels
• Commission generators and associated systems
• Execute site tests before and after GT (Gas Turbine) start-up

Typical Site Activities:

• Before GT Start:
• Power receiving
• Panel testing within scope
• Loop checks with external panels
• Interlock and phase relation tests
• After GT Start:
• No-load and on-load tests (50%, 75%, 100%)
• Load rejection tests
• Performance tests
• Special tests required by grid operators (e.g., NERC compliance)

Work Experience
