Job summary

Kumaran Systems is seeking an experienced Test Manager in Chennai to lead QA across enterprise portfolios. You will drive test strategy, governance, and automation initiatives, coordinating with PMs, Dev, and Ops to ensure successful delivery on large-scale projects.

The role demands 12+ years QA experience, 5+ years in leadership, and strong stakeholder management. You will mentor teams, improve processes, and ensure quality across SDLC in an AI-enabled ecosystem.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 12+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance.
• 5+ years of experience in Test Management, QA Leadership, or equivalent leadership roles.
• Proven experience leading blended manual and automation testing teams for large-scale enterprise projects.
• Strong understanding of SDLC, STLC, Agile, Scrum, and DevOps methodologies.
• Demonstrated experience managing complex testing programs across multiple applications and technology platforms.
• Excellent analytical, leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Test Manager to lead Quality Assurance initiatives across enterprise application portfolios. The ideal candidate will have 12+ years of QA experience, including 5+ years in Test Management or QA Leadership, with a proven ability to lead high-performing manual and automation testing teams. This role requires strong expertise in test strategy, quality governance, automation, stakeholder management, and Agile delivery to ensure the successful execution of complex, business-critical projects.

Key Responsibilities

Test Strategy & Quality Leadership

• Define and implement enterprise-wide test strategies, quality standards, and testing best practices across multiple projects.
• Lead end-to-end testing activities throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), ensuring comprehensive test coverage and high-quality deliverables.
• Establish quality gates, testing processes, and governance frameworks aligned with organizational objectives.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance testing efficiency, automation adoption, and overall product quality.

Test Planning & Execution

• Develop comprehensive test plans, test schedules, resource plans, and testing estimates for large-scale projects.
• Oversee functional, integration, system, regression, user acceptance, API, mobile, web, and performance testing activities.
• Ensure effective test environment readiness, test data management, and release validation.
• Monitor testing progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation plans to ensure timely project delivery.

Automation & Continuous Testing

• Lead automation strategy and implementation across multiple technology stacks.
• Guide teams in developing and maintaining scalable automation frameworks using industry-standard tools and technologies.
• Promote shift-left testing practices and integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to improve deployment quality and release efficiency.

Defect & Quality Management

• Manage the complete defect lifecycle, including defect triage, prioritization, tracking, reporting, and closure.
• Conduct root cause analysis for production defects and recommend preventive actions.
• Define and monitor quality metrics, KPIs, dashboards, and reporting to provide visibility into testing effectiveness and product quality.
• Ensure compliance with organizational quality standards and delivery processes.

Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management

• Lead and mentor cross-functional teams comprising manual and automation QA engineers.
• Provide technical guidance, coaching, and career development support to team members.
• Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Development, DevOps, and Project Management teams to ensure alignment with business objectives.
• Communicate project status, quality metrics, risks, and recommendations to senior leadership and stakeholders.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous learning.
