Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services is seeking a Telecom Network Architect to lead end-to-end SD-WAN, broadband access, IP/MPLS, and optical transport networks for telecom operators and network technology providers. You will drive architecture roadmaps, reference designs, and accelerator strategies while mentoring teams and collaborating with CTO, engineering, product management, and operations.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of telecom network architecture experience across broadband, optical transport, IP/MPLS, and Carrier Ethernet.
• Strong expertise in SD-WAN, OSS, network automation, and transformation programs.
• Desirable 15+ years experience with senior leadership in architecture and product engineering.
• Experience engaging with CTO, engineering, product management, and operations teams.

Responsibilities

• Architect SD-WAN, Broadband Access, IP/MPLS, Carrier Ethernet, and Optical Transport networks.
• Lead solutioning and architecture design for network transformation and modernization programs.
• Drive product engineering and platform modernization across routing, switching, and OSS ecosystems.

Job description

Title : Telecom Network Architect (SD-WAN, Optical & Broadband Access Networks) / Technical Leader

Required Technical Skill Set

12+ years of experience in telecom network architecture, product engineering, with broadband access, optical transport, IP/MPLS, Carrier Ethernet, SD-WAN, OSS, network automation, and network transformation programs

Desired Experience Range: 15+ years

Location of Requirement: Hyderabad / Bangalore / Gurugram

Role & responsibilities

• Strong telecom network architecture expertise across SD-WAN, IP/MPLS, Carrier Ethernet, Broadband Access, FTTx, GPON/XGS-PON, Optical Transport (DWDM/OTN), Metro and Core Networks.
• Experience working with telecom operators, broadband service providers, and networking OEMs on product engineering, network transformation, and solution modernization initiatives.
• Deep understanding of service provider network architectures, routing & switching, traffic engineering, service orchestration, and network management platforms.
• Strong exposure to SDN/NFV, cloud-native networking, automation frameworks, intent-based networking, Disaggregated Networks, and network observability platforms.
• Hands-on experience with SNMP, NETCONF/YANG, OpenConfig, gNMI, REST APIs, Streaming Telemetry, Python, Ansible, Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD practices.
• Ability to engage with CTO, Network Architecture, Engineering, Product Management, and Operations teams to define technology roadmaps and architecture blueprints.
• Strong architecture governance, stakeholder management, solutioning, pre-sales support, and engineering leadership capabilities.

Role descriptions / Expectations from the Role

• Define end-to-end architecture for SD-WAN, Broadband Access, IP/MPLS, Carrier Ethernet, and Optical Transport networks for telecom operators and network technology providers.
• Lead solutioning and architecture design for network transformation, broadband modernization, fiber expansion, service orchestration, and network automation programs.
• Drive product engineering and platform modernization initiatives across routing, switching, optical transport, SD-WAN controllers, network management, and OSS ecosystems.
• Define architecture blueprints, technology roadmaps, reference designs, and accelerator strategies aligned to customer business objectives.
• Mentor architects and engineering teams, drive architecture reviews, and ensure scalable, secure, resilient, and operationally efficient network solutions.

Good-to-Have

• Experience with AI-driven network operations, AIOps, autonomous networks, and network digital twins.
• Exposure to Broadband Forum, MEF, TM Forum frameworks and Open APIs.
• Experience in cloud networking, edge networking, network security, and multi-cloud connectivity solutions.
• Understanding of open networking initiatives such as SONiC and disaggregated networking architectures.
• Experience with network analytics, network-as-code, and service assurance modernization programs.
