Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Technology Leader to lead our engineering teams and drive innovation across assigned business units. This role will be pivotal in shaping our technology strategy, fostering a culture of innovation, and ensuring the successful delivery of engineering projects that align with our business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive engineering and innovation strategy that aligns with the overall business goals
• Build and lead a high-performing engineering team, including recruitment, training, and professional development initiatives.
• Foster a culture of innovation by encouraging team members to propose and experiment with new ideas and technologies.
• Drive the ideation and development of new insurance products and services through innovative technology solutions.
• Establish an innovation framework that encourages experimentation, rapid prototyping, and the adoption of emerging technologies such as AI, machine learning, and blockchain.
• Create and manage an innovation lab or incubator to test and validate new concepts and technologies.

Project Oversight

• Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of engineering projects, from initial concept through to deployment and post-launch evaluation.
• Implement robust project management methodologies to ensure timely delivery, quality assurance, and adherence to regulatory requirements.
• Conduct regular project reviews and retrospectives to identify lessons learned and areas for improvement.

Technical Architecture & Standards

• Define and maintain the technical architecture and engineering standards for all software development initiatives.
• Ensure that engineering practices are aligned with industry best practices and compliance standards specific to the insurance sector.
• Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and platforms that enhance engineering capabilities and productivity.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

• Collaborate with product management, underwriting, claims, and other business units to identify technology needs and opportunities for innovation.
• Engage with external partners, technology vendors, and industry organizations to explore collaborative opportunities and leverage cutting-edge technologies.
• Act as a liaison between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals and expectations.

Budget Management

• Develop and manage the engineering budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources to support strategic initiatives and innovation projects.
• Monitor expenditures and ensure that projects remain within budgetary constraints.
• Identify potential risks associated with engineering projects and innovation initiatives, and develop mitigation strategies to address them.
• Ensure compliance with data security and privacy regulations, particularly in relation to customer data and sensitive information.
• Promote continuous learning and professional development within the engineering team by providing access to training, workshops, and industry conferences.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to ensure the organization remains competitive and innovative.
