Job summary

Carrier Global Corporation seeks a Technical Specialist - Controls Engineering for Hyderabad to lead a small team and deliver robust HVAC control solutions. You will drive model-based design, MIL/SIL/HIL testing, and collaborate with system engineers to translate requirements into architectures.

You will mentor engineers, conduct design reviews, and advance AI-enabled control approaches. A strong controls background and hands-on lab experience are essential.

  • MS or PhD in Control Systems or Mechanical Engineering with 9+ years of controls experience.
  • Strong background in model-based design and control theory.
  • Experience leading small cross-disciplinary engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of 5-7 controls engineers to design robust on-time solutions.
  • Lead project planning, design, execution, and risk mitigation.
  • Provide technical oversight ensuring MBd practices and traceability.
  • Lead initiatives to raise quality and efficiency through tech advances.
  • Capture system requirements with system engineers and decompose them.

We operate across the entire Carrier product portfolio, providing a unique and dynamic opportunity to collaborate with multiple BUs across the organization. Our team supports the full MBD controls product lifecycle - including design, development, MIL verification, troubleshooting, and lab validations. This enables controls engineers to gain hands-on experience across all stages, from conceptual design and lab validation to field trials and fleet support.****Key Role Responsibilities:*** **Manage a team of 5-7 controls engineers to design and deliver stable and robust high-quality on-time controls solutions*** **Support in project planning, design, execution, mitigating risks and conducting technical reviews.*** **Provide technical oversight to work performed, ensuring appropriate processes & methods are applied, in accordance with a model-based design (MBD) philosophy*** **Lead strategic initiatives for the controls COE to improve organizational quality and efficiency through technology advancement and process improvement*** **Work with system engineers in capturing high level system requirements and structurally decompose them ensuring requirement traceability*** **Derive control architecture and early-stage design over physical modules (e.g. PLC, RCP and HIL set-ups)*** **Recommend design considerations to equipment design and systems engineering team*** **Automate testing framework to generate soft/AI savings*** **Analyze MIL results, support psychrometric laboratory testing and fleet bugs.****Skillset needed:*** **Proficient knowledge of controls engineering foundations and model-based design concepts, including feedback control, linear/nonlinear control, multivariable control, system identification, and optimization*** **Proficient in the use of Matlab-based toolsets to early-stage design on RCP and MIL, implement solutions and lab validations.*** **Proven ability to work independently with limited supervision*** **Proven ability to lead small cross-disciplinary teams of engineers to deliver large scope projects*** **Excellent communication skills and a proven track record of delivering results through effective project management and teamwork*** **Ability to work hands-on in psychrometric laboratory environments to collect and analyze data*** **Experience with industrial control applications*** **Experience with vapor-compression cycles, including heat exchangers and turbomachinery compression technologies*** **Expertise in heat transfer, two-phase flow, and thermodynamic cycle analytical skills*** **Experience with software development lifecycle best practices, including version control, change management, release management*** **Good familiarity with advanced controls like predictive, robust and AI based Intelligent control.*** **Experience in requirements management and system integration, specifically test strategies across model-in-the-loop (MIL), software-in-the-loop (SIL), and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) domains*** **Strong technical writing skills with ability to produce clear, concise documentation*** **Experience in developing and calibrating physics-based models****Minimum Requirements:*** **M.S. or Ph.D. in Control Systems or Mechanical Engineering with min 9 years’ experience in controls application development.****Benefits:*** **We are committed to offering competitive benefits programs for all of our employees, and enhancing our programs when necessary.*** **Have peace of mind and body with our health insurance*** **Make yourself a priority with flexible schedules and leave Policy*** **Drive forward your career through professional development opportunities Achieve your personal goals with our Employee Assistance Program.****Our commitment to you Our greatest assets are the expertise, creativity and passion of our employees.
