Job summary

Origin, a Bengaluru-based robotics company, seeks a Technical Sourcing Engineer to own global component sourcing and manufacturing coordination. The role bridges Engineering, contract manufacturers, and suppliers to ensure production readiness, quality alignment, and cost optimization.

You will source mechanical and electrical components, build AVL, drive BOM standardization, conduct vendor audits, and collaborate with EMS partners to scale production for upcoming robot versions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Mechatronics Engineering required.
• 2-5 years of experience in technical sourcing or procurement.
• Hands-on global sourcing experience beyond India.
• Strong understanding of mechanical/electrical components and BOMs.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, BOMs and technical specs.
• Knowledge of import/export processes and supplier terms.
• Strong negotiation and vendor development skills.

Responsibilities

• Source mechanical components (sheet metal, CNC parts, fabricated structures) and electrical/electronic components (motors, drivers, PCBs, connectors, harnesses, sensors, controllers, batteries).
• Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with global suppliers across India, China, and other regions.
• Build and maintain AVL with 3-5 qualified vendors per critical BOM line item.
• Drive BOM standardization and technical alignment with engineering before RFQ release.
• Conduct vendor audits and assess capability vs. claims.
• Coordinate with contract manufacturers for EMS, assembly, testing, and pilot manufacturing readiness.
• Align SOPs, quality checks, and manufacturing docs between Origin and suppliers.
• Drive BOM cost optimization and lead-time reduction through RFQ and alternate sourcing.
• Maintain procurement trackers, inventory visibility, and supply chain risk dashboards.
• Support long-term vendor development for upcoming robot versions.

About the role

The Technical Sourcing Engineer will own global component sourcing, vendor qualification, and manufacturing coordination across mechanical, electrical, and embedded systems. This role acts as the technical bridge between Engineering, Contract Manufacturers, and Suppliers to ensure production readiness, quality alignment, and cost optimization.

Key Responsibilities

• Source mechanical components (sheet metal, CNC parts, fabricated structures) and electrical/electronics components (motors, drivers, PCBs, connectors, harnesses, sensors, controllers, batteries).
• Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with global suppliers across India, China, and other sourcing regions.
• Build and maintain an Approved Vendor List (AVL) with 3-5 qualified vendors per critical BOM line item.
• Drive BOM standardization and technical alignment with engineering before RFQ release.
• Conduct vendor audits and capability assessments; validate real manufacturing capability vs claims.
• Coordinate with contract manufacturers for EMS, assembly, testing, and pilot manufacturing readiness.
• Align SOPs, quality checks, and manufacturing documentation between Origin and suppliers.
• Drive BOM cost optimization and lead-time reduction through structured RFQ and alternate sourcing.
• Maintain procurement trackers, inventory visibility, and supply chain risk dashboards.
• Support long-term vendor development for upcoming robot versions and scale-up programs.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Mechatronics Engineering.
• 2-5 years of experience in technical sourcing or procurement of mechanical and electrical components.
• Hands-on global sourcing experience (mandatory exposure beyond India).
• Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, EMS, wiring harnesses, and embedded electronics.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical specifications.
• Working knowledge of import/export processes and supplier commercial terms.
• Strong negotiation and vendor development skills.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in robotics, automation, EV, or industrial equipment Organizations.
• Experience working with contract manufacturers (EMS / ODM / OEM).
• Knowledge of IPC standards, ISO quality systems, and manufacturing SOPs.
• Exposure to ERP or procurement management systems.
• Strong negotiation and vendor development skills.
