Job summary

Rakuten Symphony is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer in Bengaluru to maintain cloud-native platforms and automation. You will work across global teams to ensure reliability, scalability, and rapid deployment of services in a hybrid cloud environment.

Responsibilities include runbooks, incident response, and collaboration with engineering and product teams. A strong background in Linux, Kubernetes, scripting, and IaC is required, with shift coverage across global time zones.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Strong Linux system administration skills with hands-on troubleshooting.
• Proficient in Kubernetes administration and cloud services.
• Experience with scripting in Bash and Python for automation.
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools (Ansible, Terraform).
• Knowledge of security best practices and vulnerability mitigation.
• Experience with virtualization and containerized environments.
• Ability to deliver results with minimal supervision.

As an SRE at Rakuten Symphony, you will be instrumental in maintaining the stability, scalability, and reliability of Rakuten Cloud production environments. Your responsibilities will include supporting the Rakuten Cloud Native Kubernetes Platform & driving automation for Rakuten Cloud Native Platform deployments, including Day 2 operations, to ensure faster deployment cycles and high availability across platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain system reliability and performance by proactively identifying and resolving issues to meet SLAs.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to diagnose and resolve complex technical challenges using strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Create and maintain detailed runbooks to standardize operational procedures and improve team efficiency.
• Act as a key member of the platform team, collaborating closely with application teams to ensure uptime, seamless integration and optimal performance of the overall system.
• Optimize Rakuten Cloud platform infrastructure for high availability and scalability.
• Drive platform automation initiatives, partnering with platform and associated teams to enhance availability and accelerate deployment timelines.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to support successful new product development and rollout.
• Optimize infrastructure automation for Rakuten Cloud to deliver high availability, scalability, and operational excellence.
• Develop automation tools using Ansible, Shell scripting, or Python to empower Level 2 engineers and streamline workflows.
• Collaborate within a global team across Japan, Europe, and North America, ensuring 24/7 support through coordinated shift operations.
• Analyze and troubleshoot issues identified during lab testing or in production environments.

Relevant Skills:

• Expertise in Linux system administration with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
• Good knowledge of cloud-related services like compute, storage, network, and automation
