JOB POSITION
Carelon Global Solutions India is seeking a highly creative and meticulous SPE Tech Lead, who will be responsible for all developing requirements for our product. This is full stack development lead role working with User experience and API Integrations
JOB RESPONSIBILITY
Technical Lead will be responsible for the following:
- Drive application reliability and performance by engaging early in the lifecycle covering architecture, design decisions, performance engineering, testing, analysis, and code/configuration optimization.
- Mentor the performance engineering team, fostering a cohesive, highperforming group and providing technical guidance to Performance Engineers
- Deliver performance tuning and optimization insights to development teams to uplift customer experience; perform deepdive profiling, code inspections, and service-level bottleneck analysis.
- Integrate performance automation into CI/CD pipelines, enabling continuous and repeatable validation of scalability, throughput, and reliability.
- Evaluate, implement, and operationalize AIOps solutions, including AI-driven anomaly detection, predictive alerting, automated diagnostics, log intelligence, and incident summarization while ensuring guardrails for data privacy, model drift, and explain ability.
- Lead cloud-resilient architecture and optimization efforts, ensuring services are designed for scalability, high availability, and cost efficiency across cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP).
- Own Kubernetes-based performance engineering, including node tuning, autoscaling (HPA/VPA/Karpenter), resource optimization, cluster benchmarking, workload right-sizing, pod scheduling strategies, and mesh-level performance considerations.
- Partner closely with development, digital operations, cloud platform, and system architecture teams to tune application stacks and platform components for improved performance, resiliency, and fault tolerance.
- Lead SWAT calls and incident response during production performance issues, drive root-cause analysis, and proactively identify infra or application-level bottlenecks.
- Implement AI-assisted capacity forecasting and cost/performance optimization, leveraging ML models to predict traffic patterns, workload saturation, and scaling requirements.
- Champion observability modernization by integrating AI-based insights into Kubernetes, cloud-native telemetry (OpenTelemetry), and performance dashboards for early anomaly detection.
QUALIFICATION
- Requires Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems; minimum of 10 years of performance testing & engineering experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
EXPERIENCE
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts verbally and in writing.
- Strong hands-on expertise in Kubernetes, including autoscaling (HPA/VPA/Cluster Autoscaler/Karpenter), resource optimization, and cluster-level performance tuning.
- Deep understanding of service mesh architectures (Istio/Linkerd) and containerization (Docker).
- Practical experience across major cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP), including cloud-native performance optimization and resiliency patterns.
- Extensive experience with observability stacks, including Prometheus/Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Splunk, Datadog, New Relic (metrics, logs, traces).
- Proven track record managing end-to-end NonFunctional Testing (NFT) programs, covering performance, scalability, reliability, and failover across distributed systems.
- Expert-level proficiency with performance testing tools, such as LoadRunner, JMeter, k6, or Gatling.
- Hands-on experience with application instrumentation and profiling (Java, .NET, Node.js, Python) to diagnose performance bottlenecks.
- Strong working knowledge of backend systems, including RDBMS (SQL), NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra), caching layers (Redis), and messaging platforms (Kafka/RabbitMQ).
- Experience with mobile performance testing, including native apps and tools like Perfecto.
- Hands-on experience integrating performance tests into CI/CD pipelines, using tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Argo CD, or Flux.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) using Terraform, Helm, or Kustomize.
- Understanding of API gateway and distributed architecture performance, including Apigee, Kong, or NGINX-based gateways.
- Familiarity with AI/ML-driven operations (AIOps) such as anomaly detection, predictive alerting, capacity forecasting, event correlation, and automated diagnostics.
- Strong experience in diagnosing performance issues across application, infrastructure, cloud, and network layers in production and non-production systems.
- Ability to perform root-cause analysis and lead incident response (SWAT/war-room) during performance degradation or outages.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery models, partnering closely with development, platform, and operations teams.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, especially during high-severity production incidents or time-sensitive system issues.
- Knowledge of cloud cost optimization and capacity planning, including rightsizing and forecasting.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Strong strategic and hands-on understanding of front-end and back-end technologies, microservices, APIs, and distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, LoadRunner, observability and monitoring platforms like Datadog, Splunk, AppDynamics, Dynatrace.
- Ability to define, track, and improve SLIs, SLOs, and performance KPIs.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to clearly present technical insights to diverse audiences.
- Strong documentation skills, including performance reports, architectural recommendations, and runbooks
- Strong ownership mindset with focus on delivering high performance, resiliency, and system stability.
- Calm and effective under pressure, particularly during production incidents.
