Job summary

Hexnode is seeking a Technical Lead Engineer to drive the backend architecture and development of our next generation XDR platform. You will lead the design of scalable, low-latency services that ingest, process, and analyze security telemetry from millions of endpoints, balancing hands-on coding with system architecture and technical leadership.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with product and security teams, and push for reliability, observability, and performance through JVM tuning,

Qualifications

• 8+ years of deep experience in Java software engineering.
• Experience with distributed systems, microservices, and cloud-native architectures (AWS preferred).
• Strong knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases and search engines like Elasticsearch.
• Experience with Big Data frameworks (Kafka, Spark, Flink) is a major plus.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS/Engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture, design, and implementation of mission-critical backend services powering the XDR platform.
• Design and build highly scalable, fault-tolerant, low-latency distributed systems capable of processing massive volumes of concurrent security events.
• Develop cloud-native microservices with a strong emphasis on reliability, scalability, observability, and raw performance.
• Lead technical design discussions, make critical architectural decisions aligning with long-term platform goals, and mentor/coach engineers.
• Collaborate closely with Product Management, Security Research, Endpoint Engineering, DevOps, and QA teams to translate complex business requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Continuously improve platform performance through deep JVM tuning, database optimization, caching strategies, and asynchronous processing.
• Define and enhance engineering processes around CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, deployment, real-time monitoring, and incident response.

In this role, you will lead the design of highly scalable, low-latency backend services that ingest, process, correlate, and analyse security telemetry from millions of endpoints. This position perfectly balances hands-on engineering, system architecture, technical leadership, and cross-functional collaboration.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 8+ years of deep experience in Java software engineering, with a proven history of building and scaling enterprise-grade applications.
• Strong expertise in distributed systems, microservices, and cloud-native architectures (AWS experience is highly preferred).
• Deep understanding of SQL/NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Cassandra, Redis).
• Hands-on experience with Elasticsearch (or other Lucene-based search engines) and Big Data frameworks (Kafka, Spark, Flink) is a major plus.
• Proficiency in scripting and automation tools to streamline development and deployment pipelines.
• Exceptional communication, technical documentation, and stakeholder management skills, alongside a genuine passion for mentoring technical teams.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
