SynapseIndia is seeking a senior technical leader to design, architect, and optimize scalable e‑commerce platforms. You will leverage Magento, WooCommerce, Drupal, Shopify or similar systems while guiding a development team. You will drive coding standards, reviews, CI/CD, testing, and secure deployment practices.

Collaborate with clients and internal teams to craft technically feasible, scalable solutions and identify opportunities for performance, security, and feature enhancements.

Job description

What is the work?

• Lead the design, architecture, development, implementation, and optimization of scalable, secure, and high-performance e-commerce platforms.
• Architect and optimize front-end and back-end components for robust web applications.
• Work with e-commerce platforms such as Magento / Adobe Commerce, WooCommerce, Drupal / Drupal Commerce, Shopify / Shopify Plus, PrestaShop, OpenCart, Shopware, and Sylius.
• Provide technical leadership to the development team and establish coding standards, development practices, and architectural guidelines.
• Conduct code reviews and ensure code quality, automated testing, CI, and development standards.
• Collaborate with Business Development, Project Managers, UI/UX designers, developers, and clients to understand requirements and develop technical solutions.
• Participate in client discussions and provide technically feasible, scalable, and commercially viable solutions.
• Review existing client platforms and identify opportunities for enhancements, integrations, performance improvements, feature development, security upgrades, and optimization.
• Identify whether requested changes are within the agreed project scope or require additional effort/change requests.
• Provide technical inputs and estimates for additional work where required.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues involving applications, APIs/integrations, performance, databases, deployments, and production incidents.
• Lead root-cause analysis and implement sustainable technical solutions.
• Manage deployment of features, enhancements, integrations, and bug fixes with minimal disruption.
• Ensure proper Git, CI/CD, testing, deployment, version control, and rollback processes.
• Evaluate new technologies and recommend solutions that improve performance, scalability, security, functionality, and maintainability.
• Stay updated with developments in e-commerce platforms, open-source frameworks, APIs, cloud technologies, security, and development tools.
• Mentor and guide junior and mid-level developers and conduct knowledge-sharing sessions.
• Coordinate technical activities to ensure timely project delivery.
• Review technical deliverables and identify risks affecting quality, timelines, scope, or client satisfaction.
• Maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, development standards, and project documentation.
• Support Business Development and Project Management teams with solutioning, technical discussions, scope analysis, estimation, and client communication.
• Identify technical gaps and proactively recommend enhancements and additional billable opportunities.
• Contribute to improving the organization's e-commerce technology capabilities and service offerings.

What skills and experience are we looking for?

• Strong experience in e-commerce development and customization.
• Hands-on experience with Magento, WooCommerce, Drupal, Shopify, PrestaShop, OpenCart, Shopware, Sylius, or similar platforms.
• Strong knowledge of PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, REST APIs, GraphQL, and MySQL/MariaDB.
• Experience with API integrations, payment gateways, ERP/CRM, marketplaces, and e-commerce integrations.
• Strong understanding of Git, CI/CD, testing, deployment, security, and performance optimization.
• Experience with cloud and containerization technologies such as AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, or Kubernetes is an advantage.
• Proven experience in technical leadership, team mentoring, and code reviews.
• Strong skills in solution architecture, troubleshooting, estimation, scope management, and requirement analysis.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients, technical teams, Business Development, and Project Management.
• Strong commercial awareness to identify enhancements and additional billable opportunities.
