Job summary

Lam Research is seeking a Cost Performance Engineering team member in Bengaluru to support NPI costing and drive cost reduction across manufacturing processes. You will develop cost models and oversee costing of complex mechanical parts and assemblies, collaborating with product engineers to optimize designs for cost and manufacturability.

You will review engineering drawings and BOMs, participate in design reviews, and implement costing practices that improve efficiency and competitiveness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or diploma with extensive domain experience.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and cost optimization.
• Proficient in DFM/DFC approaches and BOM management.
• Experience with costing applications and stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

• Costing of built-to-print mechanical parts and assemblies across metals, sheet metal, weldments, plastics.
• Troubleshoot costing challenges related to design, materials, or processes.
• Design, develop and implement costing practices and improve manufacturability.
• Review designs and BOMs to optimize manufacturability and cost.
• Coordinate new product builds in pilot production with manufacturing and engineers.
• Participate in design reviews and provide feedback to reduce cost.
• Perform teardown and benchmarking analyses for large assemblies.
• Develop handoff packages for transition to high-volume manufacturing.

The impact you’ll make

Join Lam as a Cost Performance Engineering team member where you’ll play a crucial role in supporting the NPI teams costing function. Using your knowledge of manufacturing, produce performance, technology and costing principles you will oversee the Costing of processes, and operations at Supplier end. You'll tackle cost reduction challenges. Your expertise optimizing manufacturing costs and standards helps shape Lam's commitment to innovation and efficiency in manufacturing.

In this role, you will directly contribute to NPI efficiency and cost competitiveness.

What you’ll do

• Should costing of built to print complex mechanical parts (Metal machining, Sheetmetal, weldments, plastics etc) and assemblies
• Troubleshoot new or existing costing challenges through problems involving designs, materials, or processes.
• Designs, develops and implements costing practices.
• Reviews and develops designs that improve product manufacturability and assembly.
• Coordinate new product builds in pilot production manufacturing partnering closely with manufacturing and product engineers.
• Review engineering drawings & bill of materials (BOM) for costing purposes.
• Participate in design reviews and provide Design feedback to improve manufacturability and cost.
• Performs Tear down and Benchmarking Analysis for Large and complex assemblies
• Performs PS&DM to solve complex problems
• Coordinate new product builds in pilot production manufacturing partnering closely with manufacturing and product engineers.
• Create and release engineering drawings & bill of materials (BOM) using Engineering Change Management process.
• Development of handoff package to allow product transition to high volume manufacturing.

Who we’re looking for

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering with 8 years of experience or Diploma in related field with 10+ years experience
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes with practical exposure to shop floor operations and production environments
• Proficient in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Cost (DFC) approach
• Working knowledge in Operation Method Sheets (OMS), process planning, and Bill of Materials (BOM) Management.

Preferred qualifications

• Knowledge of Semiconductor equipment, Capital Equipment industry and its manufacturing processes.
• Effective communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, in English.
• Statistical analysis skills including statistical process control and data analysis used in production setting.
• Knowledge in Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA).
• Expertise on costing applications like aPriori.
• Proven stakeholder management skills, with ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders or customers in technical matters.
