Job summary

Lam Research is seeking a Cost Performance Engineering specialist to cost and optimize NPI manufacturing processes, covering materials, processes, and end-to-end cost performance. You will review designs for manufacturability and coordinate pilot builds with cross-functional teams, ensuring smooth transition to high-volume production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in mechanical/production/industrial engineering with 5+ years of experience or Diploma with 7+ years in related field.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes with exposure to shop floor operations.
• Proficient in DF Manufacturing and Costing approaches and BOM management.
• Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Cost (DFC) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Costing of built-to-print mechanical parts and assemblies (metal, sheetmetal, plastics, weldments).
• Troubleshoot costing challenges related to designs, materials or processes.
• Review designs to improve manufacturability and assembly.
• Coordinate new product builds in pilot production with manufacturing and product engineers.
• Review engineering drawings and BOM for costing purposes and manage BOM in Engineering Change Management.
• Develop handoff package for transition to high-volume manufacturing.

The impact you’ll make

Join Lam as a Cost Performance Engineering team member where you’ll play a crucial role in supporting the NPI teams costing function. Using your knowledge of manufacturing, produce performance, technology and costing principles you will oversee the Costing of processes, and operations at Supplier end. You'll tackle cost reduction challenges. Your expertise optimizing manufacturing costs and standards helps shape Lam's commitment to innovation and efficiency in manufacturing. In this role, you will directly contribute to NPI efficiency and cost competitiveness.

What you’ll do

• Should costing of built to print mechanical parts (Metal Machining, Sheetmetal, Plastics, weldments etc) and assemblies
• Troubleshoot new or existing costing challenges through problems involving designs, materials or processes.
• Reviews and develops designs that improve product manufacturability and assembly.
• Coordinate new product builds in pilot production manufacturing partnering closely with manufacturing and product engineers.
• Review engineering drawings & bill of materials (BOM) for costing purposes.
• Coordinate new product builds in pilot production manufacturing partnering closely with manufacturing and product engineers.
• Create and release engineering drawings & bill of materials (BOM) using Engineering Change Management process.
• Development of handoff package to allow product transition to high volume manufacturing.

Who we’re looking for

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering with 5+ years of experience or Diploma in related field with 7+ year’s experience
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes with practical exposure to shop floor operations and production environments
• Proficient in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Cost (DFC) approach
• Working knowledge in process planning, and Bill of Materials (BOM) Management.

Preferred qualifications

• Knowledge of Semiconductor equipment, Capital Equipment industry and its manufacturing processes.
• Effective communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, in English.
• Statistical analysis skills including statistical process control and data analysis used in production setting.
• Knowledge in Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA).
• Expertise on hands on costing with tools like aPriori.
• Proven stakeholder management skills, with ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders or customers in technical matters.
• Experience to designing software’s like Creo & NX
