Job description

Senior Technical & Managerial Lead - MBSE & System Simulation - Center of Excellence
Role Purpose

Lead the Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) & System Simulation Center of Excellence as the principal technical and managerial authority for system architecture, requirements engineering, model-based development, multidisciplinary simulation, virtual validation, and digital engineering. The role establishes standardized methods, tools, governance, and reusable models to improve product quality, reduce development time and cost, and enable first-time-right engineering across complex vehicle and product-development programs.

Key Technical Responsibilities
  • Define the MBSE & System Simulation CoE vision, roadmap, governance framework, engineering standards, modelling guidelines, and technology strategy.
  • Establish end-to-end systems-engineering processes covering stakeholder needs, requirements, functional analysis, logical architecture, physical architecture, interfaces, verification, validation, and traceability.
  • Lead development of system architectures using SysML and model-based engineering methodologies.
  • Ensure complete traceability from customer and regulatory requirements to system, subsystem, software, hardware, test cases, and validation results.
  • Drive adoption of model-based development across mechanical, electrical, electronic, software, controls, thermal, powertrain, chassis, body, energy, and vehicle systems.
  • Define and govern system-simulation methodologies including 0D/1D simulation, control modelling, multi-body dynamics, thermal, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, energy-flow, performance, and co-simulation.
  • Lead integration of Model-in-the-Loop (MiL), Software-in-the-Loop (SiL), Processor-in-the-Loop (PiL), Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL), and Vehicle-in-the-Loop (ViL) validation.
  • Develop reusable system models, reference architectures, simulation libraries, parameter databases, interfaces, and digital twins.
  • Define model-verification, validation, correlation, calibration, configuration-control, version-management, and release processes.
  • Chair system-architecture, requirements, interface, model-quality, simulation-readiness, technical-risk, and virtual-validation reviews.
  • Lead multidisciplinary trade-off studies covering performance, efficiency, energy, range, thermal behaviour, controls, safety, reliability, cost, weight, and packaging.
  • Ensure integration of MBSE tools with PLM, ALM, requirements-management, simulation, test-data, configuration-management, and enterprise engineering platforms.
  • Support functional safety, cybersecurity, diagnostics, failure analysis, FMEA, fault-tree analysis, and safety-oriented system design.
  • Drive simulation-led issue resolution, design optimization, sensitivity studies, uncertainty analysis, and design-space exploration.
  • Promote automation, AI-assisted engineering, surrogate modelling, reduced-order models, cloud simulation, data analytics, and virtual product development.
  • Ensure alignment with applicable systems-engineering, functional-safety, software, quality, and regulatory standards.
3. Managerial Responsibilities
  • Build, lead, mentor, and retain a high-performing, multidisciplinary MBSE and simulation team.
  • Define organization structure, technical roles, competency matrices, career paths, technical-authority levels, and succession plans.
  • Plan manpower, budgets, software licences, computing infrastructure, simulation platforms, laboratories, training, and external engineering support.
  • Allocate resources across programs based on technical complexity, business priority, system risk, and milestone requirements.
  • Establish annual objectives, KPIs, model-quality metrics, simulation-coverage targets, and delivery dashboards.
  • Manage departmental budgets, capital expenditure, tool costs, cloud-computing costs, consulting expenditure, and technology investments.
  • Review project progress, model maturity, requirements coverage, simulation accuracy, resource utilization, risks, and milestone adherence with senior management.
  • Develop make-or-buy strategies for tools, modelling activities, simulation services, and engineering partnerships.
  • Manage tool vendors, engineering service providers, universities, research institutions, and technology partners.
  • Coordinate with Product Planning, Program Management, Domain Engineering, Software, Controls, E&E, CAE, Testing, Manufacturing, Quality, Homologation, IT, and Finance.
  • Promote technical training, certification, knowledge management, best-practice deployment, innovation, patents, and continuous improvement.
  • Represent the organization in executive reviews, customer discussions, supplier meetings, technical forums, and strategic partnerships.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering processes, data security, intellectual-property protection, quality systems, and organizational policies.
4. Business Development, Pre-Sales & Delivery Accountability
  • Own end-to-end delivery accountability for all ongoing MBSE and system-simulation projects and programs within the CoE, remaining answerable for both technical outcomes and operational performance (quality, timelines, effort, utilization, and profitability).
  • Lead technical responses to RFQs, RFIs, RFPs, and Statements of Work — including solution architecture, technical scoping, assumptions, risk assessment, and win-theme development.
  • Define winning solution architectures, delivery models (onsite / offshore / hybrid, CoE-based, T&M / fixed-price), team structures, and execution approaches for new MBSE and system-simulation opportunities.
  • Prepare and validate effort estimations, resource plans, schedules, and costing inputs for proposals, ensuring competitiveness, technical feasibility, and delivery-risk coverage.
  • Develop high-quality technical proposals, capability presentations, and bid-defence material; lead proposal reviews and approval gates.
  • Support pre-sales activities — customer presentations, capability demonstrations, technical workshops, due-diligence discussions, clarification rounds, and contract-scope negotiations.
  • Identify, shape, and convert new business opportunities; support account growth, cross-selling capabilities, and expansion into adjacent engineering domains.
  • Build reusable estimation models, solution accelerators, reference architectures, case studies, and proposal collateral to improve bid quality and turnaround time.
  • Act as the single point of technical and operational accountability toward senior management and customers — for delivery health, escalations, customer satisfaction, and corrective actions.
5. Technical Scope
  • Systems engineering, requirements management, and architecture development
  • SysML-based functional, logical, physical, and interface modelling
