Job summary

Egis is seeking a highly experienced Technical Director to lead the mechanical design delivery of data centre projects across India. You will act as the senior mechanical authority on hyperscale and colocation programmes from concept to handover, combining technical leadership with client engagement and P&L accountability.

Qualifications

• 18+ years in mechanical/HVAC with 8+ years in data centres.
• Experience delivering hyperscale/colocation facilities multi-site.
• Director/Associate Director/Technical Director level
• Track record managing P&L or significant commercial responsibility
• Excellent presentation, negotiation and interpersonal skills, comfortable with C level and client stakeholders.
• Chartered engineer (CEng) or equivalent and professional registration.
• Degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Provide mechanical discipline leadership on hyperscale and colocation data centre projects.
• Set and uphold design standards, QA/QC and technical governance.
• Lead client presentations, design reviews and technical interviews at senior level.
• Support bids and proposals, including strategy, scope, resourcing and fee build up.
• Own P&L performance for the mechanical discipline: utilisation, margin, forecasting and resource planning.
• Coach, mentor and develop senior engineers and team leads.
• Work with BIM and digital teams to drive coordinated, efficient delivery.
• Build relationships with hyperscalers, colocation operators, developers and contractors.

Location: India, all locations (Mumbai, Gurgaon, Bangalore, Chennai)

Grade: Technical Director

Role purpose: Lead the technical delivery and reputation of Egis's data centre mechanical design offer across India. Act as the senior mechanical authority on hyperscale and colocation programmes, from concept through to handover. Combine technical leadership with client engagement, bid support and P&L accountability.

Key responsibilities

• Provide mechanical discipline leadership on hyperscale and colocation data centre projects
• Set and uphold design standards, QA/QC and technical governance
• Lead client presentations, design reviews and technical interviews at senior level
• Support bids and proposals, including strategy, scope, resourcing and fee build up
• Own P&L performance for the mechanical discipline: utilisation, margin, forecasting and resource planning

Discipline focus: Mechanical

• Cooling strategy for hyperscale and colocation facilities, including air, hybrid and liquid cooling (direct to chip, immersion)
• Chilled water systems, heat rejection, and water use optimisation
• PUE and WUE performance and energy efficiency
• Resilience concepts (N+1, 2N) and input to testing and commissioning
• Coordination with electrical, architecture, structure and BIM teams

Essential experience and skills

• 18+ years in mechanical or HVAC engineering, with 8+ years in data centres
• Proven delivery of hyperscale and colocation facilities, ideally multi site and multi region
• Prior experience at Director, Associate Director or Technical Director level
• Track record of managing a P&L or significant commercial responsibility
• Excellent presentation, negotiation and interpersonal skills, comfortable with C level and client stakeholders
• Strong coordination skills across multidisciplinary teams, with a working knowledge of BIM
• Chartered or professionally qualified engineer (CEng or equivalent), registered with a relevant professional body
• Degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline
