Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with significant experience in Data Centres, Telecom Facilities, and Mission-Critical Projects. The ideal candidate should be technically strong, innovative, and capable of leading projects with minimal supervision. This role offers exposure to international projects, advanced cooling/HVAC systems, and opportunities for career growth and leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and participate in Client, Design, Contractor, and Professional Team meetings.
- Develop concept and detailed mechanical designs, including HVAC systems, cooling solutions, and controls.
- Prepare schematics, mechanical calculations, technical specifications, reports, and equipment schedules as per industry and regulatory standards.
- Coordinate mechanical design with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Maintain commercial and project awareness, monitoring hours against agreed fees.
- Approve design variations and allocate hours efficiently.
- Mentor and guide Trainees, Graduates, and Engineers; ensure accuracy and quality of their work.
- Review contractor submissions, shop drawings, samples, and documentation.
- Conduct site inspections, QA/QC checks, and validation of contractor installations.
- Support testing, commissioning, and witness testing activities onsite.
- Ensure all work meets client expectations and complies with local codes, IS/ISO standards, and international guidelines.
- Travel to project sites within India and abroad as required.
- Take technical lead on assigned projects with minimal management input.
- Promote sustainable, energy‑efficient mechanical engineering solutions.
Requirements
- Preferred bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
- Proficiency in English (both written and spoken)
- Experience working on big and medium data centre and industrial sector projects
- 5 to 6 years of experience in a similar role for mechanical design of large‑scale projects
- Ensuring mechanical systems meet design intent and standards
- Ability to prepare BOQs (Bill of Quantities) and understanding of timelines, dependencies, and milestones for project deliverables
- Ability to work on a tight schedule to achieve project deliverables
- Ability to prioritize own workload to meet the project target as part of the team
- Responsible for design software such as HAP, Carrier E20‑II, TRACE 700 or equivalent; design of service for the entire project
- Fire Suppression & Safety Systems – Familiarity with FM200, Novec 1230, NFPA standards
- Experience with advanced cooling systems in data centres and familiarity with Indian engineering regulations
- Very good proactive communicator and coordinator within the team
- Review and monitor design concept for project deliverables along with technical specification
- Attend daily, weekly, monthly progress and planning meetings and provide the required inputs
- Good communication and coordination skills
