We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Java Engineer / Architect with 15+ years of experience in designing and building scalable, high-performance systems within the airline/aviation domain. This role requires deep expertise in Java (hands-on experience with Java 17, Java 21, or Java 25 is mandatory), microservices, cloud-native technologies, and strong domain knowledge of airline systems.
You will lead the architecture, design, and development of mission-critical, high-volume, low-latency applications that support core airline operations. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in building distributed systems using modern software engineering practices, leveraging Kubernetes, cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps methodologies to deliver highly available, secure, and resilient enterprise solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain high-volume, low-latency Java applications for mission-critical airline systems.
- Architect and implement microservices-based solutions with a focus on scalability, resilience, and performance.
- Work on core airline systems such as:
- Passenger Service Systems (PSS)
- Reservation and ticketing platforms
- Inventory and availability systems
- Departure Control Systems (DCS)
- Apply strong object-oriented design principles, design patterns, and best practices.
- Design and manage cloud-native applications on AWS and Azure.
- Implement and manage containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using CloudFormation and Ansible.
- Develop and optimize CI/CD pipelines for continuous integration and delivery.
- Ensure system reliability, observability, and performance tuning in production environments.
- Write and maintain high-quality, testable code with strong unit and integration test coverage.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, architecture, and operations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in mission-critical production systems.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to architectural governance and technical strategy.
Required Skills & Experience
- 15+ years of hands-on Java development experience.
- Strong expertise in object-oriented design, SOLID principles, and design patterns.
- Proven experience building and scaling microservices architectures.
- Mandatory airline/aviation domain experience, including:
- Reservation systems
- Ticketing workflows
- Inventory management
- Passenger Service Systems (PSS)
- Departure Control Systems (DCS)
- Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes (mandatory) for container orchestration.
- Experience with Docker and containerization best practices.
- Proficiency in AWS and/or Azure cloud platforms.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (CloudFormation, Ansible).
- Strong experience with CI/CD tools and pipelines.
- Expertise in building high-performance, scalable, and fault-tolerant systems.
