Job description

Location: Puducherry / Chennai / Tamil Nadu (Must)

Shift Timing: Australia Time Shift

The ideal candidate will design, organize, and modify the System and Server both in-house and client IT infrastructure, and will serve as L1 or L2 Engineer. This individual will evaluate and assess systems to ensure they are operating effectively. Based on assessments, this individual will harness collected knowledge and make adjustments to existing systems.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and administrate all operating systems and their corresponding or associated software.
• Manage communications and connectivity solutions, including local area networks, company Web site, intranet, and Internet applications.
• Manage and ensure the integrity of host computers, multiple databases, and data transfer.
• Deploy and maintain firewalls, cryptography systems, and all host security activities.
• Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end-user desktops.
• Install and configure messaging and printer systems.
• Distribute and supervise server storage space allotments.
• Design and implement a disaster recovery plan for operating systems, databases, networks, servers, and software applications.
• Provide on-call technical support.
• Analyze system or application usage and plan for growth or increases in network capacity.
• Assess the need for any system reconfigurations (minor or significant) and execute them if required.
• Ensure connectivity of all workstations.
• Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of systems software procurement and development efforts.
• Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure software products and services.
• Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for system administration and appropriate use.
• Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
• Establish service-level agreements with end-users.
• Administer and maintain end-user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
• Perform network and security audits.
• Perform system backups.
• Monitor and test server software performance and provide statistics and reports.
• Recommend, schedule, and perform software improvements, upgrades, and/or purchases.
• Provide technical guidance to other members of the team in a focused technical area of networking/systems administration; act as a technical lead.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or related field.
• 2-4 years experience as System Administrator/preferably as L1 or L2 Engineer.
• System Engineer certification.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Excellent Communication Skill.
