Preferred Square is seeking a hands-on Tech Lead to translate unclear business problems into scalable technical solutions. You’ll oversee full-stack development, including backend services in Python and frontend work with React/TypeScript, while leveraging GenAI capabilities to build AI-enabled workflows.

You will shape architecture, run early proofs of concept, drive production readiness, and mentor engineers. Strong judgment on prototypes vs.

Competenze

• BS/MS in computer science or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 5-8 years of software engineering experience, including engineering leadership.
• Strong full-stack skills across backend services, API design, data modelling, and modern frontend development.
• Advanced hands-on experience with Python and React with TypeScript.
• Experience taking AI-enabled products from concept to production.
• Strong knowledge of RAG, embeddings, vector databases, prompt design, evaluation, and agentic systems.

We are looking for a hands-on Tech Lead who can take an unclear business problem, shape a sensible technical approach, and help a team deliver it. The role requires strong full-stack foundations, practical experience with GenAI, and the judgement to know when a quick prototype is enough and when a solution needs stronger architecture, testing, security, and operational controls.

What You'll Do

• Lead engineering delivery from early discovery and technical design through development, deployment, and production support
• Turn requirements and architecture into clear workstreams, estimates, dependencies, and ownership for the team
• Build quick proofs of concept where useful, then test, simplify, rework, and harden the successful ideas for production
• Design and build AI-enabled capabilities such as RAG pipelines, agents, intelligent workflows, memory, and evaluation
• Develop scalable backend services and APIs using Python frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django, Node.js
• Guide the development of responsive frontend applications using React and TypeScript
• Set expectations for code review, testing, CI/CD, monitoring, security, performance, and production readiness

• Mentor engineers, support hiring and onboarding, and help the team improve its engineering practices
• Work closely with consulting teams and domain experts to turn business problems into solutions that can be delivered and supported

Requirements

Experience

• A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• 5 to 8 years of software engineering experience, including experience leading engineers or a significant technical workstream
• Strong full-stack skills across backend services, API design, data modelling, and modern frontend development
• Advanced hands‑on experience with Python and React with TypeScript
• Experience taking AI-enabled products from an early concept into production
• Strong practical knowledge of RAG, embeddings, vector databases, prompt design, evaluation, and agentic systems

Technical Depth

• Azure and AWS services used for application, data, identity, AI, networking, and monitoring
• AI orchestration frameworks such as LangGraph, Semantic Kernel, LangChain, CrewAI, AutoGen, or similar tools
• LLMOps, evaluation, tracing, quality measurement, guardrails, and AI observability
• Containers, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, secrets management, authentication, authorization, and secure development
• Distributed systems, queues, caching, failure handling, performance tuning, and cost management
• AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code, used with sound engineering judgement
