Job summary

Hitachi Energy Technology Services Private Limited in Chennai seeks an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a team of Project Technical Engineers and deliver high-quality engineering deliverables for projects and tenders. You will ensure compliance with processes, resource planning, and safety standards while coordinating with operating units to meet business needs.

The ideal candidate has a Master’s in power systems or a B.E./B.Tech in Electrical/Electronics with extensive experience, plus

  • Masters in power systems with 8+ years' experience in similar role or bachelor's in electrical & electronics with 10+ years of experience in similar role.
  • Deep knowledge in substation Project Engineering activities and knowledge of Hitachi Energy Products & System offerings.
  • Experience in People Management and handling a small team.
  • Strong communication and people skills with high focus on internal and external Stakeholders and their needs.
  • Eagerness for learning and innovation, readiness of mind for the use of various new tools for the engineering tasks but also for organizing the team efficiently.
  • You like to work in multicultural or international environment.
  • Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.

  • Forecast planning of Projects & Tenders for the team in coordination with OU Engineering Managers.
  • Resource planning for new Projects/Tenders & monitor the pipeline with Operating Units.
  • Drive Project Scrum / Daily/weekly follow ups with the team to ensure progress.
  • Maintain internal & external KPIs and ensure delivery of the team.

The opportunity: Manage a team of Project Technical Engineers to deliver high quality and timely Engineering deliverables to the Project / Tenders. Ensure team's compliance with standard processes, procedures, practices, and safety requirements. Ensure that the team is adequately resourced, developed, and equipped to meet the business needs.

How you’ll make an impact

Lead the team to deliver quality deliverables on-time. Responsible for process, tool & QMS implementation actions within the team. Implement LOM Engineering process in-line with the global framework. Ensure Engineering processes are followed within the team and ensure close, efficient collaboration with the operating units. Forecast planning of Projects & Tenders for the team in close coordination with OU Engineering Managers. Take responsibility for team organization, planning staffing as well as budgeting. Resource planning for the new Projects/Tenders & monitor the pipeline collaborating with Operating Units. Responsible for maintaining internal & external KPIs. Takes responsibility for the delivery of the team and ensure KPIs on track. Experience and skill to support Tendering and take responsibility of delivering Tender Engineering. Handling of Performance & development for the team members and support performance management. Set the targets in-line with the team strategy & Provide feedback to the team members - develop their competency level. Identify improvement areas & implement within the team. Training & Development of team members. Handling the daily operational issues and conflict management. Responsible for driving the Project Scrum / Daily/weekly follow up meetings with the team members. Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines. Your background
