Job summary

WSP in India is seeking a Team Leader responsible for health, safety, and welfare, leadership, and line management within our GCC team. Key responsibilities include ensuring staff welfare, delivering on business targets, managing resources, and supporting UK bidding opportunities.

Job description

Role Summary

As a Team Leader, you will be responsible for the Health, Safety & Welfare, leadership and line management, workflow and technical governance within our GCC team.

Key Activities
  • Ensure the health, safety and welfare of staff, demonstrate effective leadership across projects and engage employees through development and high‑performing teamwork.
  • Deliver on business plan and budgetary targets, manage operational and commercial performance.
  • Manage divisional resources and utilisation of the GCC.
  • Support UK bidding opportunities and liaise with UK Project Directors.
  • Act as key point of contact with UK business and promote GCC success.
  • Develop staff through PDR goals, training and mentoring.
Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor and provide strong technical & people leadership.
  • Develop and maintain technical skills & competency assessment and support training.
  • Grow capability and capacity of the team to meet business growth strategies.
  • Manage goals, performance reviews, rewards & recognition, personal development plans.
  • Manage staffing, talent retention, succession planning and support talent acquisition.
  • Promote health & safety culture, adhere to protocols and manage risk.
  • Engage with wider GCC groups for resource capability and development.
  • Provide technical governance of GCC outputs in partnership with UK technical governance.
  • Ensure competence, quality and timely delivery of engineering outputs and coordinate inputs across India and UK.
  • Manage technical input to projects, ensuring deliverables are fit‑for‑purpose and client satisfaction.
Mandatory Skills
  • Proactive management of requirements, risks and ability to influence others to deliver successfully.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, strong leadership and effective communication with team, stakeholders and clients.
  • Significant experience in team management, including line management and day‑to‑day operations.
  • Experience as a lead client contact for consultancy services and building client relationships.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • UK and international experience.
  • Open‑minded and intellectually agile.
  • Act ethically with fairness, honesty and integrity.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical / Electrical engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in building services.
  • Chartered Engineering Status with the UK Engineering Council.
