Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Ch. Sambhajinagar is seeking a Team Leader – Genset Testing to drive testing activities for DG sets ranging from 15 kVA to 2500 kVA. You will lead a skilled testing team, ensure adherence to SOPs and customer specs, and coordinate with production for timely targets.

The role requires 5–8 years in DG set testing or manufacturing, plus 2+ years leading a team, and a Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical or related fields. Strong leadership and safety focus are essential.

Qualifications

• 5 to 8 years of experience in Diesel Generator (DG) Set Testing, Production, or Manufacturing Operations.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in leading a team in testing or assembly operations.
• Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
• Hands-on DG Set Testing from 15 kVA to 2500 kVA capacity.
• Knowledge of diesel engines, alternators, AVR systems, control panels, AMF panels, and synchronization systems.
• Ability to conduct routine, load bank, endurance, and performance testing of gensets.
• Understanding of electrical parameters: voltage, current, frequency, power factor, load distribution.
• Reading electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and GA drawings.
• Awareness of quality standards, testing procedures, and customer inspection requirements.
• EHS practices during testing operations.
• Strong leadership, manpower handling, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the genset testing team to achieve daily production targets.
• Ensure all DG sets are tested as per SOPs and customer specifications.
• Monitor testing activities, analyze failures, and drive corrective actions.
• Ensure adherence to safety standards during testing operations.
• Maintain testing reports, quality records, and inspection documentation.
• Manage manpower allocation, shift planning, and skill development of team members.
• Apply Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S and problem-solving tools.

Years Of Experience

• Strong understanding of electrical parameters such as voltage, current, frequency, power factor, and load distribution.
• Knowledge of troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and control system issues during testing.
• Experience in reading electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and GA drawings.
• Familiarity with quality standards, testing procedures, and customer inspection requirements.
• Knowledge of EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) practices during testing operations.
• Strong leadership, manpower handling, and problem‑solving skills.
