Job description

What You'll Do

As a Team Lead, you'll handle lodging tax forms and file returns for US states, counties, and cities. You'll support the compliance team to ensure accurate filings, collaborate with tax personnel, and improve team processes. Customer support and accurate tax return preparation are key responsibilities. You will report to the Manager of Tax & Compliance. Location: Pune.

What Your Responsibilities Will Be

  1. Manage lodging filing and preparation tasks for team sizes of 10 or more.
  2. Manage tax processing within the team (50% of the time).
  3. Ensure compliance credibility checking tasks are completed to meet regulatory requirements.
  4. Own employee satisfaction and retention initiatives; lead development programs to achieve high satisfaction.
  5. Hire and mentor team members for growth.
  6. Identify needs and collaborate with SMEs and L&D.
  7. Manage performance discussions.
  8. Ensure accurate tax submissions meeting Avalara's targets.
  9. Work with partners to avoid escalations.
  10. Handle executive and client escalations; propose CAPA.
  11. Ensure profitability from extra client issue hours.
  12. Collaborate with onsite teams and partners.
  13. Identify and pursue automation opportunities.

What You’ll Need To Be Successful

  • 8+ years of experience with at least 3 years managing a team.
  • Graduate degree/MBA in Finance.
  • Experience with data analytics to reconcile data.
  • Proficiency in Word and Excel, including complex functions, and experience with cloud platforms.
  • Strong understanding of math and accounting concepts.
  • Excellent English communication skills (oral and written).
