Job summary

Rockwell Automation in Pune, India, seeks a senior mechanical engineer to lead execution across proposal support, order engineering, design reviews, and field modifications. You will mentor the team, drive manufacturability and cost optimization, and collaborate with global partners on solution development.

You will work with drives and electromechanical systems while ensuring regulatory compliance and quality across the full project lifecycle. This role offers hybrid work and local benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 10+ years in industrial automation, mechanical design, and execution.
• Experience leading technical teams across a full project lifecycle.
• Hands-on CAD, drawings, assemblies, and manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of drives, MCCs, electromechanical systems, and standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering execution across proposal support, order/project engineering, design reviews, and field modification.
• Coach and mentor the mechanical engineering team, allocate work by capability and project needs.
• Provide technical direction for manufacturability, reliability, and cost optimization.

Your Responsibilities:

• Lead mechanical engineering execution across proposal support, order/project engineering, design reviews, release, and field modification support, ensuring quality, cost, schedule, and customer requirements are achieved.
• Lead, coach, and mentor the mechanical engineering team; plan and allocate work based on capability, capacity, priorities, and project requirements while improving productivity and technical competency.
• Provide technical direction for complex mechanical design challenges and review solutions for manufacturability, reliability, product performance, regulatory compliance, and cost optimization.
• Collaborate with global partners, regional solution teams, subject matter experts, technical leads, project managers, manufacturing, and other stakeholders on solution development, workload balancing, and work breakdown planning.
• Drive functional excellence through engineering standardization, reusable designs, robust quality processes, audit readiness, continuous improvement, customer satisfaction, and support for annual operating plan activities.

The Essentials - You Will Have:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent relevant professional experience.
• 10 or more years of relevant experience in industrial automation, mechanical design, and engineering execution.
• Experience leading technical teams and delivering work across a complete project lifecycle.
• Hands‑on experience with mechanical design, CAD modeling, drawings, assemblies, design reviews, and manufacturing processes.
• Working knowledge of drives, motor control centers, electromechanical systems, quality management systems, and applicable engineering standards.

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:

• Experience with Creo, AutoCAD, SAP, PLM/Windchill, and product lifecycle management processes.
• Knowledge of sheet metal design, welding, GD&T, tolerance stack‑up, DFMEA, design verification, and manufacturability improvement.
• Experience with engineering analysis tools such as ANSYS and with design decisions involving product performance, reliability, and cost optimization.
• Knowledge of ASME, IEC, NEMA, ingress protection requirements, regulatory compliance, and LV/MV drives or MCC systems.
• Experience partnering with global engineering, project management, manufacturing, and customer-facing teams in a complex organization.
