Job Description

Data Center Lead to manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of our data center, ensuring the seamless functioning of our VMware environment, Linux-based applications, and network infrastructure, including firewalls and switches. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in virtualization, Linux systems, and network infrastructure, along with proven leadership abilities to guide and mentor a cross-functional team.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and optimize data center operations, including VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, vMotion, and storage (vSAN).
  • Administer Linux systems across distributions (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) and implement system automation (Ansible, Puppet).
  • Configure and manage firewalls, load balancers, and network switches (e.g., Palo Alto) and ensure network reliability.
  • Oversee IP networking, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), VLANs, VPNs, and overall network security.
  • Lead and mentor a cross-functional team; collaborate with other IT teams to ensure service reliability and performance.
Technical Skills
  • Virtualization: VMware (vSphere, vCenter, vSAN), Hyper-V
  • Networking: Cisco/Juniper switches/routers, IPsec, SSL VPN, BGP, OSPF, QoS
  • Linux Administration: RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, Bash scripting, automation (Ansible/Puppet)
  • Storage Management: SAN/NAS, iSCSI, NFS, FC, vSAN
  • Automation: PowerCLI, Ansible, Terraform, or similar tools
  • Monitoring & Alerting: Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios, ELK Stack, SolarWinds
