Responsibilities

  • Lead daily intercompany accounting operations across multiple entities.
  • Support the five-day period-end closing process and ensure proper financial statement state.
  • Review journal entries, intercompany recharges and supporting documents.
  • Monitor intercompany reconciliations and resolve differences in a timely manner.
  • Ensure staff are trained to perform effectively in a high-volume environment.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration with global teams and stakeholders.
  • Manage SOPs and control documentation; ensure audit readiness and process transitions.
  • Lead process improvements through standardization, automation and knowledge sharing.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and internal controls (SOX).
  • Support BlackLine implementation for intercompany processes, including design, testing and deployment.

Your Opportunity:

An opportunity is available for a Team Lead to join our Financial Reporting team, specializing in intercompany accounting. As a key member of the team, you will guide and support Accounting Technicians and Analysts responsible for day-to-day financial reporting operations, including the review and maintenance of balance sheet account reconciliations. The role is based in our Pune office and follows UK working hours. A hybrid working arrangement is available in accordance with company policy.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead daily intercompany accounting operations across multiple entities.
  • Support the five-day period-end closing process by identifying issues and taking corrective action to ensure that the financial statements are properly stated.
  • Review journal entries, intercompany recharges and supporting documents.
  • Monitor the preparation of intercompany reconciliations, support staff in resolving differences, and track the team’s follow-up to ensure timely resolution before deadlines.
  • Ensure that staff are fully trained and equipped to perform effectively in a high-volume, centralized environment.
  • Drive effective cross-functional communication and collaboration with global teams and key stakeholders to resolve intercompany issues.
  • Manage Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)and control documentation, ensure audit readiness, and govern process transitions effectively.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives by driving standardization, automation and knowledge sharing to enhance operational efficiency with control effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, practices and procedures.
  • Ensure that key financial reporting controls under Stantec’s SOX and internal control program are effective and operating as intended.
  • Support the implementation of BlackLine for intercompany processes, including process design, testing, deployment and user adoption.
  • Respond to internal and external audit requests and provide supporting documentation.

Your Capabilities and Credentials:

  • Strong knowledge of the accounting cycle, intercompany accounting, reconciliations, journal entries and month-end close.
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Experience leading, coaching and supporting accounting teams.
  • Strong organizational, analytical and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet firm deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with professional proficiency in English.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel and reporting skills.
  • Experience with ERP and reconciliation tools, such as Oracle and BlackLine or other large scale reporting systems is considered an asset.
