Job summary

Taylor & Francis Group in New Delhi, India, seeks a Team Lead to manage and develop the Peer Review Services team, ensuring timely, high-quality reviewer selection and publication ethics compliance.

The role requires post-graduate credentials in Biomedical/Life/Physical Sciences or Engineering, with proven people management and stakeholder engagement skills. Office-based with three days in-person, and strong English communication. Recruitment and training of new team members are included.

Qualifications

  • Post-graduate qualification (M.Sc, PhD or equivalent) in Biomedical Sciences, Life Sciences, Physical Science or Engineering subjects.
  • Candidates with postgraduate qualifications in other disciplines are welcome to apply, provided they have relevant journal management experience and skills.
  • Experience of managing people, coaching, mentoring, and adapting to others’ learning styles.
  • Prior experience working in academic publishing and on peer review processes will be desirable.
  • An interest and awareness of academic publishing and an up-to-date knowledge of market trends.

Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for the peer review process to agreed speed and quality targets.
  • Support Senior Manager – Peer Reviewer services in managing the delivery of peer reviewer selection services to agreed time and quality targets.
  • Staying up to date with internal and external guidelines on ethical publication practices and ensuring the team adhere to the highest standards of publication ethics.
  • Managing the quality of peer reviewer selection, reviewer recruitment and review report quality through routine spot-checks and managing corrective and preventive steps.
  • Providing project support and oversight on inter- and cross-departmental projects.
  • Effective handling of team administration, including maintenance of team workflows, process tracking, resource planning and team KPIs.
  • Performance management, coaching and motivating a team to meet objectives and targets; developing talent.
  • Recruitment and training of new team members.
  • Developing a collaborative team with positive contributions.
  • Creating, maintaining and controlling process documentation, and ensuring optimal workflows.
  • Developing knowledge of systems and processes to collaborate on problem-solving and best practice.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders internally and externally, including developing and managing relationships and reporting.
  • Collaborate with the Supplier Management team to maintain relationships with suppliers for successful delivery.
  • Representing the work of the team across the business.
  • Identifying opportunities for change and improvements at the product and system level, focusing on Reviewer Selection and Recruitment.
  • Be the point of contact for the business on Peer Review Services delivery.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing and developing the capabilities and productivity of a team of Content Review Editors, to ensure that the peer review services and content integrity service targets are met across a portfolio of journals.

You will be directly involved in contributing and managing the delivery of content validation through researching experts suitable to act as peer reviewers for cutting-edge research, managing peer review delivery for Taylor & Francis journals and ensuring compliance with the Taylor and Francis editorial policies.

This role is perfect for someone looking to develop their people management skill, and a passion for the peer review process. Excellent communication skills are essential for managing complex stakeholder relationships. We offer great training and development in a friendly, collaborative team. This is a customer-focused role, interacting with both external and internal customers. The successful candidate will report to the Senior Manager – Peer Review Services and will join our Peer Review Services team.

Given the nature of the subject matter involved these roles would suit individuals with aPost Graduate background in Biomedical Sciences, Life Sciences or Physical Sciences & Engineeringsubjects as you will be required to understand the scientific context of the articles for which you are supporting.

What you will be doing:

  • Collaborate with the Supplier Management team to develop and maintain relationships with suppliers as the process expert, to ensure a successful delivery of services to agreed targets.
  • Representing the work of the team across the business.
  • Identifying opportunities for change and improvements at the product and system level, and in services, with particular focus on Reviewer Selectionand Recruitment, and building a case explaining the benefits to key stakeholders.
  • Be the point of contact for the business on Peer Review Services delivery. Providing effective and timely resolution to escalations, feedback and queries from stakeholders.
This is a Team Lead role and would require you to have prior people management experience.

Candidates must havethe right to live and work in India.This role is based in our office in New Delhi.
