Job summary

Hill International, Inc. is seeking a Sr Quantity Surveyor MEP (Pre-Contract) to manage commercial aspects of MEP works across multiple Indian projects.

You will prepare quantity take-offs, BOQs, and cost plans while supporting tendering, value engineering, and cost estimation. Responsibilities include handling electrical, fire protection, plumbing, and HVAC take-offs, using CostX/AutoCAD, drafting BOQs, and contributing to tender evaluation and post-contract support where needed.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Technology in Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) or related field.
• 7–9 years of pre-contract quantity surveying, cost planning or commercial management for MEP projects.
• Proficiency in CAD, Cost-X and other quantification/estimation software.

Responsibilities

• Undertake quantity take-offs for Electrical, Fire Fighting, Plumbing, and HVAC work.
• Use CostX and AutoCAD for quantity take-off and transfer data into BOQs or cost plans.
• Draft or validate Bills of Quantities and cost plans at various design stages.

Talent Pool- Sr Quantity Surveyor MEP (Pre-Contract) supports the commercial management of MEP works for building projects across multiple sectors in India- Gurugram, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai. Primarily responsible for preparing accurate quantity take-offs, Bills of Quantities, and cost plans at various design stages, while supporting tendering, value engineering, and cost estimation activities. The position also assists in selected post-contract commercial tasks, ensuring cost accuracy, compliance with applicable standards, and effective coordination with project stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Undertake quantity take-offs for Electrical, Fire Fighting, Plumbing, and HVAC work using applicable standards.
• Use software tools (e.g., CostX, AutoCAD) for quantity take-off, summarize quantities, and transfer data into BOQs or cost plans, including carrying out bulk checks.
• Draft or validate Bills of Quantities, including carrying out bulk checks.
• Prepare cost plans at different design stages including Concept, Schematic, and Design Development.
• Analyse and adjust unit rates, price BOQ items, collect market quotations, and assist in tender estimates and cost plan reporting.
• Support value engineering exercises and assess cost implications of materials, labor, and construction methods during design and execution stages.
• Apply working knowledge of construction technologies and methods in cost planning tasks.
• Assess cost implications of materials, labour and construction methods during design and execution stages.
• Carry out procurement-related tasks including preparing prequalification (PQ) documentation, maintaining tender schedules, managing tender events, issuing tender documentation, evaluating tenders, and drafting tender evaluation reports.
• Assist in compiling final contract documents and support procurement activities in accordance with standard forms of contract (e.g., FIDIC, CPWD).
• Support post-contract activities by understanding key contract terms and post-contract work process flow.
• Assist in the preparation of payment recommendation report.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’ Technology in Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing.
• Minimum 7-9 years of relevant experience in pre-contract quantity surveying, cost planning, or commercial management for MEP works on building projects such as Residential, Commercial, Hotel, Hospital, Fit-out, and Industrial/Warehouse developments.
• Should be good in CAD, Cost-X (qty take off tools) and other quantification / estimation software.
• Excellent skills on MS excel and word and ability to learn and adapt to customized software.
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
• Excellent Interpersonal and presentation Skills.
