Job summary

Gartner, Inc. is seeking a Systems Engineer to lead the development of the platform’s search capability within Gartner Digital Workplace Solutions. You will guide and mentor teams, and identify opportunities to innovate, driving value for our associates across the globe.

You will manage a global fleet of devices, implement automation via REST APIs, and contribute to ITIL processes while collaborating with cross‑functional teams to enhance the digital workplace experience.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience with macOS, iOS and Android devices in a corporate environment
• Development or scripting background strongly preferred
• Experience using REST APIs for integration and automation
• Basic web development skills (HTML, CSS) a plus
• Excellent communication, detail orientation and problem solving skills
• Familiarity with Exchange and O365 environments and networking basics

Responsibilities

• Support and troubleshoot a global fleet of iOS, Android and macOS devices
• Manage escalated incidents via Service Now and distribute to team
• Administer Mac/Mobile devices with MDM/UEM platforms across a global footprint
• Test, configure and implement iOS, Android, macOS apps, profiles and policies
• Maintain source control of scripts in Git/Bitbucket
• Develop and maintain macOS scripts using Bash, Zsh, Swift, PowerShell, Python
• Package macOS software with pkgbuild/productbuild; patch OS updates regularly
• Collaborate with Security to mitigate threats for Mac/Mobile
• Coach Gartner's internal Help Desk via training materials and KB
• Maintain architecture diagrams and test plans for Mac/Mobile space

About the role

We are looking for a results-driven, self-motivated problem solver who can lead the development of the platform’s search capability. As Systems Engineer, you will guide and mentor others and identify opportunities to innovate and drive value.

What you’ll do

• Support and troubleshoot a global fleet of corporate and personal iOS, Android and macOS devices
• Manage all escalated incidents via Service Now and distribute to team
• Administer Mac/Mobile devices with an MDM/UEM platform (ex: Workspace ONE, Intune) across a global footprint
• Test, configure and implement iOS, Android, macOS apps, profiles and policies
• Manage Apple devices with Apple Business Manager (formerly DEP, VPP)
• Package custom XML/.plists for device configuration on macOS
• Develop and deploy macOS scripts using various shells/languages (ex: Bash, Zsh, Swift, Powershell, python)
• Maintain source control of developed scripts in Git/Bitbucket
• Package macOS software with using tools like pkgbuild, productbuild, PatchMyPC
• Patch OS updates for Mac/Mobile fleet on regular cadence
• Evaluate and improve digital experience for associates leveraging DEX tools
• Leverage UEM/MDM to drive business solutions across business units at Gartner
• Develop and maintain test plans and architecture diagrams around the Mac/Mobile space
• Develop and maintain metrics/reports using various tools (PowerBI, Splunk)
• Commitment to documentation
• Mitigate security threats/vulnerabilities in collaboration with the Security team for Mac/Mobile
• Stay abreast of platform/MDM best practices
• Work with the team to coach Gartner's internal Help Desk via email communications, videos, virtual training sessions, and the creation/maintenance of knowledgebase articles and support documentation
• Work within ITIL Change Management process to shepherd planned changes
• Participate with and maintain vendor relationships
• Evaluate new technologies and hardware related to Mac/mobile space for use in the corporate environment
• Integrate and maintain MDM/UEM platform with IDPs like Okta, Ping, etc.

What you’ll need

• 4+ years of experience with macOS, iOS and Android devices in a corporate environment
• Must have: Development or scripting background strongly preferred
• Experience using web services such as REST APIs for integration and automation
• Basic web development skills (HTML, CSS, etc.) a plus
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• High level of attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Excellent problem solving/analytical skills.
• Must be able to read and understand technical documentation
• Passionate about Apple and Android technologies with a desire to be engaged with the space as it evolves
• Functional knowledge of Exchange and O365 environments
• Working knowledge of networking including TCP/IP, firewall, VPN clients
• Familiarity with Agile methodology (scrum) and Jira
• Must be able to multi-task, change direction, set priorities, and meet deadlines
• Dependable and available to work early or late to meet deadlines when required
• Must be able to positively contribute to a team environment and collaborate with cross functional teams
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision
• Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP) a plus
• VMware Certified Professional – Digital Workspace a plus
• Legacy AirWatch accreditations or other MDM specific certifications (Jamf, etc.) a plus.
