Job summary

adesso India seeks a senior test engineer to design and build an automated system test framework for secure networking products. You will test across network topologies and integrate switches, firewalls and equipment from different vendors.

You will work in a fast-paced agile team, contribute to automation and DevOps practices, and communicate clearly with software and hardware engineers.

Qualifications

• 5 to 8 years of hands-on testing experience in networked or product environments.
• Strong networking knowledge: routing, switching, firewalls, and protocols.
• Solid programming skills; able to build and maintain a test framework; Python/Go favored.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins) and Linux environments.
• Nice to have: Cisco/Juniper gear, VPN, cryptography, secure networking concepts.

• Design and build the test framework: You design and build an automated system test framework that can test our customers' secure networking products across a range of network setups.
• Integrate network equipment: You integrate and automate tests against switches, firewalls and other network equipment from different vendors.
• Model realistic and adversarial topologies: You model realistic and adversarial network topologies to validate product behaviour under varied conditions.
• Automate and test manually where needed: You write and maintain automated test cases, and you run manual tests where automation isn't (yet) the right answer.
• Find root causes: You diagnose and root-cause failures across the network, system and application layers.
• Work as part of the team: You take part in agile rituals such as stand-ups and planning meetings, and you are actively involved in technical decisions.
• Collaborate across disciplines: You work with software developers and embedded hardware engineers to deliver robust and secure solutions.

YOUR PROFILE

• Experience: 5 to 8 years
• Networking background: You have deep knowledge of networking, including routing, switching, firewalls and common protocols.
• Engineering skills: You have solid programming skills and can build and maintain a test framework, not just write test cases. Python, Go or similar languages for tooling and automation are ideal.
• Testing experience: You have several years of hands-on experience with system or integration testing in a networked or product environment.
• Automation and DevOps: You are familiar with test automation frameworks and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins or similar), and you feel at home in Linux environments.
• A plus: You have worked with equipment from vendors such as Cisco or Juniper, and you understand VPN, cryptography or secure networking concepts.
• Mindset: You are curious and adaptable, and you approach complex problems in a structured way. You pay attention to detail without losing sight of delivery goals. You document well and communicate clearly, both in code and in conversation.
• Language skills: Very good English skills, written and spoken.
