Job summary

GE Vernova is seeking a System Engineer for the Plant Operability & Design team in India. The role involves concept/design responsibility for water/steam cycle and overall plant integration, with duties spanning from system concept validation to control narratives for plant control.

You will verify cycle concepts, perform design calculations, define operation concepts for BOP and HRSG, and support commissioning. 0–2 years in power plant engineering and travel willingness are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in mechanical engineering or related discipline from a recognized university.
• 0–2 years of experience in power plant engineering.
• Problem analysis and resolution skills.
• Know and apply design methods, rules and tools to specify the systems/components.
• Knowledge of codes and standards (ANSI, ASME, NFPA, TAC, LPC, UL, FM, IEC, VDE, etc.).
• Knowledge of interfaces on controls systems & electrical interfaces.
• Willingness to travel.
• Fluency in English.

Responsibilities

• Verify the overall cycle concept and define BOP system concepts.
• Perform system design calculations and issue functional equipment specifications.
• Define operation concepts for BOP systems and HRSG, and plant start-up/load control.
• Participate in software acceptance tests.
• Provide site support during project commissioning.
• Lead design and cost comparison on system level for NP I programs.

Job Description Summary

Role Summary/Purpose: The Plant Operability & Design team has the concept and design responsibility for the water/steam cycle as well as for the overall plant integration and the overall plant control. The team duties include defining the basic design parameters of the plant, issuing functional equipment specifications, specifying operating and control concepts, as well as control narratives for the plant control. It serves both NPI and OTR projects, performs dynamic simulations and provides ITO support including concept verification and functional guarantee definition.

Job Description Roles and Responsibilities

Within this team, the System Engineer has the concept and design responsibility for his/her area of work. For projects in execution phase, he/she is required to consider the project-specific contractual design requirements to align them with partners and/or customers in coordination with project management. For NPI projects, the Plant/Product Development Specification forms the base for his/her work and requires close coordination within the project team and with the Program Manager. Technical regulations and standards as well as GEV’s EHS policy form part of the plant systems design. The System Engineer has the technical and time schedule responsibility for his/her engineering work and services within the project, which includes:

• Verification of the overall cycle concept as well as defining individual BOP system concepts
• Performing system design calculations and issuing functional equipment specifications
• Defining operation concepts for BOP systems and HRSG as well as for plant start-up and load control
• Participating in software acceptance tests
• Providing site support during project commissioning
• Leading design and cost comparison on system level for NPI programs
• Preparing Control Specifications for individual system and overall plant control, with a strong level of technical ownership
• Supporting commissioning activities mainly remotely, while being flexible for short site missions when required

Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelors / master’s in mechanical engineering or related disciplines from an accredited university or college, or equivalent knowledge and experience
• 0-2 years of experience in power plant engineering
• Problem analysis and resolution skills
• Know and apply design methods, rules and tools to specify the systems/ components
• Specific Knowledge about the relevant codes and standards like ANSI, ASME, NFPA, TAC, LPC, UL, FM, IEC, VDE etc.
• Knowledge of Interfaces specially on controls systems & electrical interfaces
• Willingness to travel
• Fluency in English
