Amazon is seeking a Senior System Development Engineer III to join the AFT Platform Engineering and Services team in Hyderabad. You will design and build scalable systems, troubleshoot production issues, and develop AI-assisted tooling to accelerate development and operations.

You will lead cross-team initiatives, mentor engineers, and ensure availability and performance of critical fulfillment services. Strong coding skills and experience with CI/CD are essential for this role.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of systems design, software development, operations, automation, and process improvement experience.

System Dev Engineer III, AFT Platform Engineering and Services

The Amazon Fulfillment Technologies Support Team is looking for a Senior System Dev Engineer who will join the team which supports all software applications responsible for shipment, item availability, customer promises, shipment optimization and other functions related to fulfillment services process.

Your problem resolving skill will benefit customers directly, ensuring Amazon is able to meet all its commitments to our customers.

Primary responsibilities include designing systems from conception to production, troubleshooting, diagnosing and fixing production software issues, developing monitoring solutions, performing software maintenance and configuration, using AI tools where applicable, implementing the fix for internally developed code, updating, tracking and resolving technical challenges, build and develop tools which will automate daily operational activities.

Ideal Candidate should have Experience leveraging generative AI (GenAI) tools and large language model (LLM)-based assistants to accelerate software development, debugging, and operational workflows along with Hands-on experience with AI-assisted code generation, code review automation, or AI-powered incident triage tools

Responsibilities including leading or working alongside development/support teams on Amazon Corporate and Divisional Software projects, updating/enhancing our current software, designing of systems, automation of support processes and documentation of our systems.

This job requires you to constantly hit the ground running and your ability to learn quickly and work on disparate and overlapping tasks will define your success. High Impact production issues often require coordination between multiple Development, Operations and IT Support groups, so you get to experience a breadth of impact with various groups.

Key job responsibilities

• * Driving your own projects, from design through planning to execution. Also work with teams across Amazon on cross-team initiatives.
• * This engineer will lead the design and implementation of new tools, pipelines and automation, will work with developers, system architects, software development engineers.
• * Planning and coordinating feature improvements and upgrades around services.
• * Bring part of the team working on improving our service Operational Excellence and availability for PEAK periods.
• * Analyzing and improving availability, efficiency, capacity, scalability, security and performance of our services.
• * Representing Systems while working with internal teams and external partners.
• * Troubleshooting and resolving problems with production systems as part of our on-call rotation.
• * Developing, automating and maintaining tools.
• * Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate the software release process.
• * Mentoring Junior Engineers and being part of their design reviews, code reviews and setting architectural direction along with coaching for their career growths.

A day in the life

As a Senior System Development Engineer, you will design, develop and automate AFT tools. You will manage the Operational Excellence of the infrastructure for high availability, monitor security and compliance.

Basic Qualifications

• - 6+ years of systems design, software development, operations, automation, and process improvement experience
• - 5+ years of programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby experience
• - 5+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• - Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes
• - Experience leading the design, automation, deployment, and support of large-scale infrastructure
• - Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

- Experience with distributed systems at scale
