Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking an experienced power systems engineer for design and project delivery in Chennai. You will define topologies, specify critical components, and coordinate with suppliers to meet customer requirements and standards.

The role demands knowledge of protection, insulation coordination, and harmonic studies, with experience in substation design and PSCAD/MATLAB tools preferred. Strong teamwork and communication are essential in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• In-depth understanding of basics of power system steady state, dynamic and transient behavior.
• Experience with substation design and design studies such as protection, insulation coordination and lightning study.
• Design experience in power electronic based plants such as solar and wind will be an added advantage.
• Experience with specifying power system components and evaluation of vendor documents.
• Knowledge of PSCAD and MATLAB.
• In-depth understanding of international standards (IEEE/IEC/GIGRE) for specifying power system components and design studies.

Responsibilities

• Define topology and single line diagram for FACTS solution based on customer requirement.
• Specify main circuit components such as Power Transformer, Power Electronics Valves, Reactors, Capacitors, CT, VT, Breaker etc.
• Coordinate with suppliers for optimal design of components mentioned above.
• Evaluate vendor design and test record documents.
• Perform design studies including harmonic performance, protection design, insulation coordination, and loss evaluation.
• Coordinate with other disciplines involved in project and tender deliveries.
• Support Project/Product/Application teams in customer discussions and acquisition.

How you’ll make an impact:

• Define topology and single line diagram for FACTS solution based on customer requirement.

• Coordinate and communicate with other disciplines involved in project and tender deliveries.
• Participate in customer discussions and Support Project Management/ Product Management/ Application Engineering team in customer acquisition and consultation.
• Responsible for design, time schedule, budget, and quality of deliverables during the entire project execution process for system design scope
• Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background:

• M. Tech, Power Systems and with relevant work experience of 2-5 years.
• B.E/B. Tech, Electrical Engineering and with relevant work Experience of 5-10 years.
