Job summary

Dexcom in Bengaluru seeks an experienced Android developer to design and build robust mobile apps. You will implement Kotlin-based features, write tests, and collaborate across teams to improve engineering efficiency.

The role requires strong Kotlin and Android architecture knowledge, REST integrations with Retrofit, and hands-on testing with Espresso/Mockito in an Agile environment. On-site in Bengaluru with Dexcom Talent Acquisition support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field and 2–5 years of related experience.
• 2+ years native Android development with Kotlin; 3+ years overall software dev.
• Expert Kotlin skills with Coroutines and async programming.
• Strong foundations in data structures and algorithms.
• Deep understanding of Android architecture and patterns (MVVM/MVI/MVP).
• Experience with REST API integration using Retrofit.
• Proven track record building large-scale, multi-module Android apps.
• Strong documentation, testing discipline, and reliable coding.
• Experience with Espresso and Mockito for automated tests.
• Agile experience with Jira/Confluence; familiar with CI/CD (Jenkins/Bamboo/GH Actions).
• Git workflows with GitHub/GitLab/Bitbucket; GitFlow.
• Bonus: Jetpack libraries, Java, DI (Hilt/Dagger), data security basics.

Where You Come In

• You will design and build applications for the Android platform.


• You'll implement requirements on Android apps, and write and update design documents.


• We'll rely on you to continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to strengthen development efficiency.


• You’ll interface with software test to ensure a high-quality product.


• You will develop automated unit and integration tests.


• You’ll participate in design, code, and test reviews.


• You will propose and implement enhancements to the apps to improve sustainability.

What Makes You Successful

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.


• You have a minimum of 2 years of native Android app development experience using Kotlin, and 3 years of professional software development experience overall.


• You bring expert-level Kotlin skills, with strong Coroutines and asynchronous programming experience.


• You have a strong foundation in Data Structures and Algorithms.


• You have a deep understanding of Android architecture and design patterns (MVVM / MVI / MVP).


• You have experience with REST API integration using Retrofit.


• You have a proven track record building and maintaining large-scale, multi-module Android applications.


• You bring a high degree of diligence in documentation, testing, and coding, with a strong focus on test reliability and eliminating flaky tests.


• You have experience writing automated tests using Espresso and Mockito.


• You have experience working in Agile teams and using tools such as Jira and Confluence.


• You have experience using CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Bamboo, or GitHub Actions.


• You have experience with version control tools such as Git, GitHub, GitLab, and Bitbucket, along with GitFlow.


• Bonus points if you bring experience with Jetpack libraries (Compose custom UI components and performance optimization, Navigation), Java, Dependency Injection (Hilt / Dagger, with Koin a plus), and data encryption and security fundamentals.

Experience And Education

Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and a minimum of 2–5 years of related experience, or a Master's degree with 0–2 years of equivalent experience.
