Job Location: Bangalore, Whitefield office (WFO) for 5 days a week.
Role Overview
Identify and develop capable & reliable emerging market suppliers. Facilitate EM technical specialists in qualification exercises. Communicate with business lines to invite emerging market suppliers to bid and generate business value by maximizing market competition.
Responsibilities
- Identify potential capable and reliable suppliers by project experience, internal and external networks, and market research across the Asia Pacific market.
- Conduct supplier pre‑screening through questionnaires, follow up with potential site visits to verify engineering, fabrication capability, experience, and quality management systems against international standards.
- Act as a regional market expert; research and synthesize long‑term market trends and alert Category Managers.
- Understand emerging market development and leverage market intelligence to support sourcing strategies.
- Engage early with internal business partners (regional projects, maintenance, sites) to support planning, commercial strategy development, and GS requirements.
- Evaluate and recommend suppliers for Business Line consideration.
- Provide supplier intelligence on new leaders in technology to drive innovation.
- Coordinate research of new suppliers with the Global Supplier List Analyst/Lead.
- Appropriately contact and validate supplier capabilities.
- Facilitate technical qualification by providing logistic support, scheduling, and collecting required data.
- Participate in technical reviews and provide post‑qualification follow‑up to close gaps.
- Market and promote Global Sourcing Service offerings.
- Maintain supplier relationships to ensure preferred treatment.
- Leverage supplier relationships during post‑order phases and manage escalations.
- Support and operationalize category strategies; monitor key supplier performance and capture data for the SPM team.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in project procurement or supplier identification/development.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (mechanical, electrical, chemical, industrial, production) or equivalent; MBA or Master’s in Engineering is an advantage.
- Knowledge of EPC processes and engineering & fabrication equipment.
- Experience with engineered equipment.
- Strong knowledge of the supplier base across Asia Pacific focused on the Oil & Gas sector.
- Good analytical and presentation skills.
- Project management skills to work effectively with cross‑functional teams.
- Excellent communication skills at multiple organizational levels.
- Ability to drive market opportunities and pursue creative approaches to overcome barriers.
- Understanding of emerging markets.
- Experience in supplier management processes.
- Hands‑on experience in supplier development.
- May require domestic and international travel.
