Prior to Anesthesia

Anesthesia technicians prepare equipment needed for the patient to safely undergo anesthesia . This involves:

• Preparing a range of devices to maintain the patient's airway (e.g. laryngeal masks , endotracheal tube)
• Making sure that patients are positioned in such a way NOT to cause discomfort during their procedure
• Acquiring transfusion fluids and equipment
• Transferring the patient to the recovery room.
• Handing over patient information to the recovery room staff.
• Entering the used consumables and drugs in Anesthesia billing sheet with due signature of anesthetist and handing over the billing sheet to the OT store assistant.
• To ensure the replacement and adequacy of anesthesia drugs and consumables in Anesthesia trolley prior to next surgery in the OT.
• To follow adequate inventory management protocol as per policy.
