Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize skirts for launch vehicles (inter tank, inter stage, aft skirts).

Job description

Founded in 2022, Ethereal Exploration Guild (The Guild) is building the World’s First Fully Reusable Medium-Lift Launch Vehicle/Rocket, Razor Crest Mk-1(RCM1).

Based in India, the team has a combined flight heritage of over 75 launches from the PSLV and GSLV fleets, and more than 300 years of collective experience in the space industry. The Guild is also developing a 700,000 sq ft facility dedicated to Upper Stage Engine Testing, which is going to be India’s largest privately developed Engine Testing Facility.

The Guild has also built and manufactured India’s First Reusable Rocket Engine.

We are looking for a self-motivated individual to join the Hands of the Guild as a Structural Engineer.

Job-Type: On-site, Monday - Saturday

As a Structural Engineer, you will take end-to-end ownership of the design, analysis, development, integration and qualification of launch vehicle structures. You will be responsible for developing lightweight, high‑strength structural solutions that ensure structural integrity, reliable performance, and mission success across all phases of flight. Working in a fast-paced startup environment, you will collaborate closely with propulsion, mechanisms, avionics, manufacturing, assembly & integration, testing, and mission operations teams to develop rapidly, validate, and improve structural systems.

Responsibilities:

• Design and optimize skirts for launch vehicles viz., inter tank, inter stage and aft skirts (primary project).
• Mass optimization of the designs based on strength, stability and frequency response.
• Analyze structures for various load conditions viz., static, dynamic and thermal loads.
• Transform system requirements into hardware concepts and trade implementation and architecture options.
• Design a range of pressurized and unpressurized structures and parts to enable system capability, creating original CAD models and prints.
• Design flight hardware to achieve ascent, entry, and enable rapid reuse of the & Razor Crest Mk-1.
• Develop design criteria where there is a lack of definition with sense of ownership.
• Perform hand calculations and FEA to develop, assess, and optimize designs.
• Cross-cordinate across Propulsion, NGC, Avionics, Aerodynamics, Manufacturing, AIT and other teams to suitably incorporate the optimal parameters for design, manufacturing, testing & flight qualification.
• Balance operational needs across vehicle systems while optimizing for development speed, mass, and cost.
• Design and execute qualification testing with complete ownership of assigned projects and/or products.

Required Qualifications:

• 2 - 3 years in structural design, analysis and testing.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in aerospace engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong fundamentals in solid mechanics and structural dynamics.
• Good exposure to various structural analysis methods using finite element tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with designing systems or structures for Launch vehicles, Aircrafts, or Planetary landers.
• Exposure to structural (linear & Nonlinear), thermo-structural and modal frequency response simulations.
• Exposure to structural testing, qualification and test-analysis correlation.
• Finite Element and Programming tools - Proficiency in: ANSYS, ABAQUS, NASTRAN or equivalent FEM software - ADAMS, LS DYNA or equivalent multibody dynamic analysis software.
• MATLAB/Python
• Experience with structural optimization and lightweight design.
• Knowledge of CAD tools and engineering drawing practices is desirable.
