NRT seeks an experienced Aerospace Structural Design Engineer specialising inaeroelasticity and aerospace materialsfor fixed-wing UAVs, with a good working knowledge of design for structural strength and fatigue. The role demands design of safe and light-weight structures through advanced design and simulation.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Fluent with NASTRAN, PATRAN, APEX and FLDS. Must be very well versed with 101, 103,105, 144, 145 solvers.
- Create Finite Element models for linear and nonlinear structural analysis, both at component and assembly level.
- Select suitable structural materials to meet strength, weight and other performance/ safety requirements.
- Design experimental test procedures and instrumentation for validation of analytical models.
- Lead static and dynamic aeroelastic and rotor dynamic simulations to evaluate structural stability under dynamic loads.
- Lead Vibrational analysis both general and modal analysis. Model fine tuning via GVT results
- Translate analysis/ test results into actionable design recommendations and risk mitigation strategies.
- Plan suitable flight test instrumentation, analysis tools and carry out flight test data analysis for loads and flutter.
- Generate/ review reports for summarising all project-related analysis results.
Must have skills
- At least 6 to 8 years’ experience in design of main aircraft structural components (metallic and composites), especially from aeroelastic, buckling and vibrational considerations.
- Experience in static and dynamic analysis (Modal, transient, random vibration) of aircraft structures.
- Experience in selection of suitable structural materials and design and manufacturing of composite parts.
- Possess advanced FEA skills namely NASTRAN PATRAN APEX FLDS and their respective solvers.
- Knowledge of static aeroelasticity related modelling and simulation.
- Awareness of airworthiness certification requirements based on analysis and testing.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work solitary or in a team.
- Good Knowledge of Composite Materials and Sizing criteria of Composite parts.
Good to have skills
- Experience in structural design of unmanned aerial vehicles.
- Dynamic aeroelasticity and rotor dynamic analysis knowledge.
- Experience in development in optimization and process algorithms.
- Expert level knowledge in above mentioned FEA tools.
- Critical Thinking and a track record for trouble shooting and problem resolution.
- High pedigree research skills and ability to adopt and utilize literature review for verification and validation.
- Experience in analysis of flight test data.
- Knowledge of Python and MS Office applications.
- B.E/B.Tech (Mechanical/Aeronautical) with 10 years of Industrial Experience or M.Tech (Mechanical/Aeronautical) with 7 years of Industrial Experience or PhD ( Mechanical/Aeronautical) with 4 years industrial experience.
