Job summary

Burns & McDonnell India is seeking a Structural Designer to provide 3D modeling and 2D drafting for foundations and steel on diverse facility projects. Responsibilities include creating foundation and steel drawings using REVIT, TEKLA, and AutoCAD, and coordinating with other disciplines to ensure clash-free designs.

The ideal candidate has 2–5 years in industrial/commercial drafting, knowledge of AISC/ACI/PIP codes, and can lead a small team while delivering accurate, constructible drawings.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Civil Engineering or ITI Civil Draftsman with 2–5 years of experience in industrial/commercial design drafting.
• Ability to lead a team of designers and train them on drafting software.
• Working knowledge of international codes and standards (AISC, ACI, PIP) used in Food/Consumer Industry, Manufacturing, Industrial and Commercial projects.

Responsibilities

• 3D Modeling and 2D drafting of foundations and steel, general arrangement drawings using REVIT (Structural), TEKLA and AutoCAD to produce construction deliverables in 2D format.
• Create foundation detail drawings (piles, spread footing, etc.) and foundation plans/elevations/sections/details.
• Produce steel detail drawings, steel plans/elevations/sections; road layout, site grading, drains, location layout and key plan.
• Prepare BOQ/MTOs and underground pits, stairs and ladders; coordinate scope with other disciplines to ensure clash-free design.
• Demonstrate willingness to advance in career by taking increased engineering design responsibilities and work with discipline lead engineer.
• Be a committed team player with initiative, strong analytical and problem-solving skills; communicate effectively.

The “Global Facilities” (GFS) business unit handles engineering of facilities in the North America region which includes food & beverage facilities, consumer product facilities, aerospace facilities, life sciences facilities, hyper scale data centers, commercial facilities, healthcare facilities and utility plants. The Mumbai office has a full complement of professionals with expertise in architecture, civil, electrical, control & automation, fire protection, mechanical, structural engineering, and project management. This position is responsible for providing a full range of structural CAD services on various facility projects.

Key Responsibilities

3D Modeling and 2D drafting of foundations and steel, general arrangement drawings using tools like REVIT (Structural), TEKLA and AutoCAD to produce construction deliverables in 2D format like –

• Foundation detail drawings (piles, spread footing, etc.)
• Foundation plans and elevations
• Foundation sections and details
• Steel detail drawings
• Steel plans, elevations and sections

• Bill of Quantities (BOQ) / Material Take-offs (MTOs)

Qualifications

• Diploma in Civil Engineering or ITI Civil Draftsman.
• Minimum 2 to 5 years of experience in industrial/commercial design drafting, development of general arrangement drawings, foundation and steel layouts, Foundation detail drawings, steel connection drawing, Modeling of steel and foundations.
• Can lead a Team of designers and guide them and train them on various draftingsoftware.
• Diagrammatic skills, 3D conceptual skills
• Working knowledge of international codes and standards (AISC, ACI, PIP etc.) used in Food and Consumer Industry, Manufacturing, Industrial and Commercial projects.
