Job summary

Burns & McDonnell India is seeking a Senior Fabrication Designer to advance their career within the Global Facilities unit in Mumbai. You will perform 3D modeling and 2D drafting for steel fabrication using Tekla and AutoCAD, producing fabrication shop drawings and BOMs while coordinating with disciplines to ensure clash-free designs.

The role requires 6–8 years of fabrication modeling experience, knowledge of AISC/ACI/PIP codes, and the ability to lead a fabrication team under project

Qualifications

• 6–8 years experience in creating fabrication 3D models and 2D drawings.
• Knowledge of Tekla templates, materials, connections setup, and shop drawings extraction.
• Familiar with international codes (AISC, ACI, PIP) used in industrial facilities.
• Ability to coordinate with fabricators and lead fabrication teams.

Responsibilities

• 3D Modeling and 2D drafting of steel fabrication projects using TEKLA and AutoCAD.
• Generate fabrication shop drawings and Tekla 3D models.
• Prepare RFIs and extract BOMs and fabrication reports.
• Coordinate scope with other disciplines for clash-free design.
• Lead and guide the fabrication team and communicate clearly.

The “Global Facilities” (GFS) business unit handles engineering of facilities in the North America region which includes food & beverage facilities, consumer product facilities, aerospace facilities, life sciences facilities, hyper scale data centers, commercial facilities, healthcare facilities and utility plants. The Mumbai office has a full complement of professionals with expertise in architecture, civil, electrical, control & automation, fire protection, mechanical, structural engineering, and project management.

Responsibilities

• 3D Modeling and 2D drafting of steel fabrication projects using tools like TEKLA and AutoCAD to produce deliverables format like –
• Fabrication steel shop drawings
• Generating Fabrication Tekla Steel 3D model
• Generating RFI’s on the project
• Extracting Bill of Material and other reports related to fabrication.
• Responsible for coordinating assigned scope of work with other disciplines to generate a clash free design.
• Willing to advance in career by taking increased engineering design responsibilities by closely working with discipline lead engineer.
• A committed team player able to work on own initiative.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good Communication skills (verbal & written) and ability to self-check and produce accurate work.

Qualifications

• Diploma/Degree in Civil Engineering or ITI Civil Draftsman.
• Minimum 6 to 8 years of experience in creating fabrication 3D model and extracting fabrication 2D drawings from the model.
• Diagrammatic skills, 3D conceptual skills
• Good knowledge on project setup in Tekla like templates, material, connections setup, Shop drawings extractions as per fabricators requirements.
• Working knowledge of international codes and standards (AISC, ACI, PIP etc.) used in Food and Consumer Industry, Manufacturing, Industrial and Commercial projects.
• Knowledge of power fab and Tekla Trimble connect is must.
• Coordinate with the fabricator and provide resolution to the queries.
• Guide and lead the fabrication team.
