Job summary

Aditya Birla Group in India Tamil Nadu Chennai-The Oval is seeking a State Credit Manager to lead underwriting for the statewide portfolio. You will evaluate complex credit proposals, ensure adherence to policies, and drive risk controls while partnering with Sales, Operations, Legal, and Credit teams.

The role requires deep credit knowledge, risk management, and team leadership to balance growth with prudent risk management and compliant operations across the state.

Qualifications

• Experience in underwriting credit proposals based on financial, business, banking and bureau assessments.
• Strong understanding of risk frameworks and credit policies.
• Ability to mentor teams and drive process improvements in underwriting.

Responsibilities

• Lead credit underwriting for the portfolio across the state.
• Evaluate complex credit proposals based on financial, business, banking, and bureau assessments.
• Approve credit proposals within delegated authority and recommend higher-value cases as per approval matrix.
• Ensure adherence to internal credit policies, regulatory guidelines, and risk frameworks.
• Monitor portfolio health, delinquency trends, and early warning indicators.
• Drive initiatives to improve portfolio quality and minimize credit losses.
• Analyze default patterns and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure robust risk assessment and fraud prevention practices.
• Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Legal, Technical, and Credit teams to achieve business objectives.
• Balance growth with prudent risk management.
• Support product launches, policy implementation, and market expansion initiatives.
• Provide guidance on structuring credit proposals for viable business opportunities.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the state credit team.
• Monitor individual and team performance through defined KPIs.
• Conduct regular training on underwriting standards, policy updates, and risk assessment techniques.
• Build a high-performance, customer-focused credit team.
