Job summary

CanKids KidsCan in India seeks a State Coordinator to lead the National Outreach Program within the CCC framework, driving equitable access to care for children with cancer and families. You will build partnerships, supervise teams, monitor budgets, and ensure program quality and reporting.

The role requires advanced degree and 8–12 years of program management experience in health/development, with strong English and Hindi communication, and ability to work across public and private sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Manage annual plans and budgets, ensuring targets and timelines are met.
  • Serve as liaison with state government departments, hospitals and healthcare institutions.
  • Represent CanKids at state forums and official engagements.
  • Supervise project managers, social workers, and staff with performance reviews.
  • Maintain program data via MIS platforms (Salesforce) for reliable reporting.
  • Coordinate with HQ RMEL on research, evaluation and impact assessment.
  • Prepare narrative and financial reports for senior management.
  • Drive donor engagement, CSR partnerships and grant acquisition.
  • Organize community outreach, fundraising campaigns, and volunteer mobilization.
  • Monitor service delivery standards across facilities for quality patient support.

Founded in 2004 by Poonam Bagai, herself a cancer survivor, CanKids KidsCan, the National Society for Change For Childhood Cancer In India partners with hospitals, medical professionals, and state governments to enable access and best standards of treatment, care and support across 60 cities and 22 states of India.

Catering to childhood cancer patients from primarily underprivileged families, CanKids is present in 141 hospitals across India. Through our signature programYANA (You Are Not Alone)– CanKids provides medical, drugs & diagnostics support, accommodation through Home Away from Homes, , patient transport, blood support, nutrition & rations, education and counselling support.

In order to increaseAccess2Care, CanKids has MOUs with 8 state governments asknowledgeandtechnical partnersfor childhood cancer and 16 State Projects Across India.

Job Description
Summary:

The State Coordinator plays a pivotal leadership role in the successful delivery of CanKids’ National Outreach Program (NOP) within the assigned state, operating under the Change for Childhood Cancer (CCC) framework. This position is central to advancing equitable access to care for children with cancer and their families by ensuring seamless program implementation, strategic government and hospital partnerships, effective team leadership, and robust monitoring and reporting. The incumbent will drive service expansion, maintain compliance with MoUs, and strengthen local capacity while overseeing budget execution and resource mobilization. This role is critical in scaling impact, ensuring program quality, and fostering sustainable collaboration across public and private sectors.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the planning, execution, and continuous monitoring of all state-level NOP activities in alignment with national goals.
  • Implement annual operational plans and budgets, ensuring adherence to program targets and timelines.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with state government departments, hospitals, and healthcare institutions to secure approvals and facilitate collaboration.
  • Represent CanKids at state-level forums, consortium meetings, and official engagements.
  • Supervise and mentor project managers, social workers, and support staff, fostering team growth through regular performance reviews and training.
  • Maintain accurate and timely program data using MIS platforms such as Salesforce, ensuring reliable reporting and decision-making.
  • Coordinate with the HQ RMEL team on research, evaluation, and impact assessment initiatives.
  • Prepare and submit comprehensive narrative and financial reports to senior management.
  • Drive local donor engagement, corporate social responsibility (CSR) partnerships, and grant acquisition.
  • Organize community outreach, fundraising campaigns, and volunteer mobilization efforts.
  • Monitor service delivery standards across CHSUs and HAH facilities, ensuring consistent quality in patient support, travel logistics, treatment coordination, and welfare services.
Requirements

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Social Work, Management (MBA/MHA), or a related field
  • 8–12 years of progressive experience in program management, preferably within the health or development sector
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing multidisciplinary teams and delivering complex programs
  • Proven track record in government relations, stakeholder engagement, and partnership development
  • Strong proficiency in project planning, budgeting, and financial management
  • Experience with data management systems, including Salesforce or similar MIS platforms
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Hindi; regional language fluency is highly desirable
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to dynamic environments
