Job summary

Nextpower seeks a Staff Systems Engineer to support the development of single axis solar trackers and other solar power plant equipment. Based in Hyderabad, you will report to the Director, Systems Engineering and lead system-level design, modeling, testing, and data-driven optimization across product lifecycle.

The ideal candidate has 12–15 years in complex mechanical/electrical systems, strong leadership, and expertise in FEA or power system studies.

Qualifications

• MS/PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, System Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 12-15 years' experience in designing complex mechanical products/systems/structural/electrical designs.
• Should be a subject matter expert in own domain.
• Expertise in FEA/ Power System Studies is a plus.
• 8+ years' experience in System Engineering of multi-disciplinary systems.
• Experience with full product lifecycle from requirements to design, production, field management.
• Experience operating in a multi-disciplinary environment.
• Experience performing trade studies and lifecycle cost analysis.
• Experience writing requirement specifications, verification plans and test plans.
• Strong eye toward safety, constructability, system maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Regularly communicate with Product Management to understand product needs and translate into engineering requirements and design solutions.
• Perform system architecture design including functional block diagrams and interface definitions.
• Develop and manage system level requirements from definition to implementation and verification.
• Drive engineering disciplines and coordinate with manufacturing to bring product from concept to mass production.
• Create and implement test plans to validate designs with focus on safety and reliability.
• Own and develop system level modelling tools to guide product design and ensure performance.
• Support automation of design processes and tools to scale the business.
• Process large field and factory test data to guide investigations and improve future products.
• Participate in system level design and process FMEAs to ensure robustness and safety.
• Perform system level simulations/FEA/Power System Studies.

Here Is a Glimpse Of What You Will Do

• Gather, process, and analyze large sets of field data and factory test data to guide the investigation and resolution of service anomalies and improve future products.
• Participate in system level design and process FMEAs to ensure design robustness, safety, and reliability.
• Perform System level simulations/ FEA/ Power System Studies.

Here Is Some Of What You Will Need (required)

• MS/PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, System Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 12-15 years' experience in designing complex Mechanical products/Systems/Structural/Electrical designs.
• Should be a subject matter expert in his own domain.
• Expertise in FEA/ Power System Studies will be an added advantage.
• 8+ years' experience in System Engineering of multi-disciplinary systems.
• Basic knowledge of system engineering methodologies, documents and design processes.
• Experience with the full product lifecycle, from requirement definition to design, production, and field management.
• Experience operating in a multi-disciplinary and multi-functional environment
• Experience performing trade studies and lifecycle cost analysis.
• Experience writing requirement specifications, verification plans and test plans.
• Strong eye toward safety, constructability, system maintenance.

Here Are a Few Of Our Preferred Experiences

• Knowledge of Python, MATLAB, Ansys FEA /ETAP or equivalent.
• Experience with requirement management process and tools (Jama preferred).
• FMEA, root cause analysis, investigation of service anomalies.
• Understanding of solar industry and mechanical tracking systems.
• Knowledge of applicable renewable energy and electrical codes and standards.
