Job summary

Nextpower Hyderabad is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer to support the development of solar power plant solutions, including single-axis trackers and related equipment.

You will lead system architecture, define requirements, collaborate with manufacturing through the full product lifecycle, and ensure safety and reliability through design verification. This role demands strong leadership, a systems mindset, and passion for innovation in the solar industry.

Qualifications

• MS/PhD or equivalent in a relevant engineering field.
• 12-15 years’ experience designing complex mechanical products and multi-disciplinary systems.
• Experience with full lifecycle from definition to production and field management.
• Expertise in FEA or power system studies is a plus.
• 8+ years in system engineering of multi-disciplinary systems.
• Knowledge of Python, MATLAB, Ansys FEA/ETAP, and Jama is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Translate product needs into engineering requirements and design solutions.
• Perform system architecture design with functional block diagrams and interfaces.
• Develop and manage system-level requirements from definition to verification.
• Drive engineering disciplines and coordinate with manufacturing from concept to mass production.
• Create and implement test plans to validate designs with focus on safety and reliability.
• Own and develop system-level modelling tools to guide product design.
• Support automation of design processes and tools to scale the business.
• Analyze field and factory test data to guide improvements and service.
• Participate in system-level design and process FMEAs for robustness.
• Perform System-level simulations/ FEA/ Power System Studies.

Job Description: Job Description The Staff Systems Engineer, Solar Power Plant Solutions will be based in Hyderabad, India.

In this position, you will report to the Director, Systems Engineering.

We are seeking a highly skilled system engineer supporting the development of single axis solar trackers and other solar power plant equipment for power distribution, power conversion, inspection and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Regularly communicate with the Product Management team to understand the product needs and translate them into engineering requirements and design solutions.
• Perform system architecture design, including functional block diagrams and interface definitions.
• Develop and manage system level requirements from definition to implementation and verification.
• Drive all engineering disciplines and work closely with manufacturing teams through the development cycle to bring the product from concept to mass production.
• Create and implement test plans to bring up, debug, and validate designs to meet functional and performance goals with a focus on safety and reliability.
• Own and develop system level modelling tools that will guide the product design and ensure that the product performance meets all customer and product requirements.
• Support automation of design processes and tools to scale the business.
• Gather, process, and analyze large sets of field data and factory test data to guide the investigation and resolution of service anomalies and improve future products.
• Participate in system level design and process FMEAs to ensure design robustness, safety, and reliability.
• Perform System level simulations/ FEA/ Power System Studies.

Required

• MS/PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, System Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 12-15 years’ experience in designing complex Mechanical products/Systems/Structural/Electrical designs. Should be a subject matter expert in his own domain.
• Expertise in FEA/ Power System Studies will be an added advantage.
• 8+ years’ experience in System Engineering of multi-disciplinary systems.
• Basic knowledge of system engineering methodologies, documents and design processes.
• Experience with the full product lifecycle, from requirement definition to design, production, and field management.
• Experience operating in a multi-disciplinary and multi-functional environment
• Experience performing trade studies and lifecycle cost analysis.
• Experience writing requirement specifications, verification plans and test plans.
• Strong eye toward safety, constructability, system maintenance.

Preferred

• Knowledge of Python, MATLAB, Ansys FEA /ETAP or equivalent.
• Experience with requirement management process and tools (Jama preferred).
• FMEA, root cause analysis, investigation of service anomalies.
• Understanding of solar industry and mechanical tracking systems.
• Knowledge of applicable renewable energy and electrical codes and standards.
