Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to help advance our data and AI infrastructure platforms from Bengaluru, India. You will design and build scalable backend systems powering multi-tenant services and data pipelines.

You'll collaborate with distributed teams to deliver high-performance services, contribute to cloud storage integrations, and drive architecture choices across Scala, Python, and Kubernetes ecosystems.

Qualifications

• BS (or higher) in Computer Science or related field.
• 12+ years of production level experience in one of: Python, Java, Scala, C++, or similar language.
• 6+ years experience developing large-scale distributed systems from scratch.
• Experience working on a SaaS platform or with Service-Oriented Architectures.
• Experience working on Infrastructure related projects is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Work on challenges spanning product to infrastructure including distributed systems and high-performance services.
• Deliver reliable and high-performance services and client libraries for storing and accessing large data on cloud storage backends (AWS S3, Azure Blob Store).
• Build reliable, scalable services using Scala, Kubernetes, and data pipelines (e.g., Apache Spark, Databricks) to support platform usage.

Key Responsibilities

Our Infrastructure Backend teams span many domains across our essential service platforms. For instance, you might work on challenges such as:

• Problems that span from product to infrastructure including: distributed systems, at-scale service architecture and monitoring, workflow orchestration, and developer experience.
• Deliver reliable and high performance services and client libraries for storing and accessing humongous amount of data on cloud storage backends, e.g., AWS S3, Azure Blob Store.
• Build reliable, scalable services, e.g., Scala, Kubernetes, and data pipelines, e.g., Apache Spark, Databricks, to power the pricing infrastructure that serves millions of cluster-hours per day and develop product features that empower customers to easily view and control platform usage.

What we look for
