Job summary

MaxLinear, Inc. is seeking a Staff SW Engineer - DSP FW in Bengaluru to develop embedded firmware for SoCs, including boot code, drivers, and DSP algorithms.

You will work with ASIC, algorithm, and systems teams to optimize performance and support RF calibration and signal processing applications. The role requires strong C/C++, RTOS experience, ARM/Tensilica expertise, DSP understanding, and proficiency with debugging tools and version control.

Qualifications

• Excellent C/C++ programming skills.
• Experience developing embedded firmware on top of an RTOS.
• Experience with ARM/Tensilica processors.
• In-depth RTOS knowledge (ThreadX/FreeRTOS).
• Understanding DSP for communication systems; DSP algorithms in C.
• Experience debugging embedded firmware with JTAG and measurement instruments.
• Experience implementing signal processing in C; FW control loops for RF front end.
• Proficient with SVN, Git, or Perforce; ticketing systems like JIRA/Redmine/Bugzilla.
• BS/MS in EE/ Electronics/ CS/ Communications; 2–6 yrs.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement software for MaxLinear SoCs, including low-level firmware drivers and boot code.
• Develop firmware to exercise HW data paths and DSP algorithms.
• Participate in code/design reviews and unit testing; interface with ASIC/algorithm teams.

Responsibilities

The Staff SW Engineer - DSP FW role involves developing embedded firmware for MaxLinear SoCs, including low-level drivers, boot code, RTOS-based software, and DSP algorithm implementation. The position requires expertise in C/C++, RTOS (ThreadX/FreeRTOS), ARM/Tensilica processors, and digital signal processing for communication systems. The engineer will work closely with ASIC, algorithm, and systems teams, while also focusing on debugging, performance optimization, code reviews, and firmware development for RF control, calibration, and signal processing applications. You will focus on:

• Design and implement software for Maxlinear SoCs; this includes developing low level firmware drivers, system boot code, RTOS abstraction layers, firmware features and host applications
• Develop FW to exercise the HW data paths
• Develop FW to implement DSP algorithms
• Participate in peer code and design reviews and Unit testing
• Interface with ASIC, algorithm, and systems engineers
• Performance tuning and optimization of firmware stack

Qualifications
