Job summary

Zendesk is seeking a Staff Data Platform Engineer in Pune, India, to join our Enterprise Data & Analytics (EDA) team. You will lead architecture and roadmap for the data platform, shape ingestion, transformation, storage, and governance, and drive standardized data contracts and tooling across analytics and product teams.

You will design scalable data services, own orchestration with Airflow, and push for automation via Terraform and GitHub Actions.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software/data engineering background with 3+ years in Platform Engineering or Data Infrastructure.
• 3+ years leading cross‑team architecture and infrastructure initiatives at Staff level.
• Hands-on experience designing, provisioning and managing cloud environments (AWS preferred).
• Experience with infrastructure automation tools like Terraform.
• Proven track record designing and automating robust CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions/Jenkins).
• Programming in Python (or Go/Java/Scala) with Docker knowledge.
• Intermediate SQL experience and data pipeline observability.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies; strong communication.
