Job summary

SailPoint is hiring a Staff Software Engineer in Pune to join the Human Agentic Fabric team. You will architect and build scalable backend services in Java and GoLang within a multi-tenant SaaS platform hosted on AWS.

You'll mentor engineers, drive architectural direction, and champion CI/CD and testing best practices across the Pune and US teams. The hybrid role requires in-person interviews and strong collaboration across product, security, and architecture groups.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software development experience building enterprise-grade software products.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience developing software in Java, with demonstrated experience leading engineering initiatives and setting technical direction
• Hands-on proficiency and professional experience developing scalable services in GoLang
• 2+ years of experience architecting and developing web applications and microservices in a high-scale, distributed cloud environment
• Solid hands-on experience with relational and NoSQL database technologies
• Proven experience designing and implementing event-driven architectures utilizing messaging systems and queues
• Strong background in automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms (AWS)
• AI-assisted engineering: experience with AI tools in daily workflow and code review baseline expectations

About the Role

As a Staff Software Engineer on Human Agentic Fabric team you will act as a senior technical leader architecting, designing, and building highly scalable, resilient distributed systems. In this role, your typical day involves leading significant hands-on backend software development in Java and GoLang, designing event-driven microservices capable of handling massive daily transaction volumes, and collaborating cross-functionally with Product Management and architecture teams to translate complex business requirements into elegant technical solutions. You will champion engineering excellence, set architectural vision, advocate for best practices across teams, and mentor engineers to build high-performance cloud security systems at global scale.

About the Team

You will join a high-velocity, collaborative engineering team based in Pune, India, working in close partnership with our US-based engineering teams. We are passionate about solving complex distributed systems challenges across a modern, multi-tenant SaaS platform built on cloud-native microservices hosted in AWS. Our team fosters a culture of technical rigor, continuous innovation, mutual trust, and ownership, empowering every engineer to make a lasting impact on our core product offerings.

Roadmap for Success

• 30 days: Complete SailPoint engineering onboarding, configure your development environment, and gain a thorough understanding of the IdentityNow multi-tenant microservices architecture and deployment pipelines. Shadow team members during sprint ceremonies, review architectural documentation, and deliver your first backend code contribution in Java or GoLang following SailPoint’s testing and CI/CD standards.
• 60 days: Partner with Product Management, technical leads, and engineering peers to define technical specifications and architectural designs for upcoming high-throughput service capabilities. Design, implement, and deploy end-to-end microservice enhancements, establishing robust unit and integration test coverage.
• 90 days: Independently drive the technical design and execution of complex service components across Java and GoLang codebases. Proactively identify performance bottlenecks, optimize database queries and event-streaming pipelines (Kafka, Redis), and lead constructive peer code reviews.
• 6 months: Define and drive forward-looking technical roadmaps for your service domain, reducing system latency and scaling services to support rapid customer growth. Participate in the engineering on-call rotation to support platform reliability, diagnose complex production escalations, and partner with services teams to review solution architecture.
• 1 year: Serve as a primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) on distributed systems design, asynchronous workflows, and microservice scalability across the organization. Establish design patterns and coding guardrails across teams, champion AI-assisted engineering practices, and actively mentor junior and mid-level engineers to elevate technical excellence across the Pune engineering hub.

• Proven experience designing and implementing event-driven architectures utilizing messaging systems and queues (such as Apache Kafka and Redis)
• Strong background in automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms (AWS)
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills with a proven track record of mentoring engineers and driving cross-functional alignment
• AI-assisted engineering: Our engineers are expected to use AI development tools as a core part of their daily workflow, not as a novelty. We expect you to use these tools to accelerate delivery, expand your scope, and raise the quality bar, while applying strong engineering judgment to review, validate, and own everything that ships under your name. Comfort with prompting, agentic workflows, and human-in-the-loop review of AI-generated code is a baseline expectation for this role.
