Get Well is seeking a visionary Staff Software Engineer to architect, design, develop, and optimize our cloud-native healthcare platform with AI-First and AI-Augmented practices. You will lead multiple engineering teams, driving AI adoption, architecture standards, and secure delivery in a HIPAA-regulated environment.

The role demands deep expertise in cloud-native systems, microservices, AI-enabled engineering, and collaboration across product, DevOps, QA, and compliance teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
• 10+ years of software development experience with 2+ years in a principal/lead role.
• Proven experience building large-scale cloud-native distributed systems on cloud platforms.
• Strong expertise in Java, Python, Node.js, or Ruby/Rails.
• Deep knowledge of microservices, API design, Kubernetes, Docker, and distributed architectures.
• Experience with modern frontend frameworks (React, Vue.js, Angular).
• Experience with AI-powered apps using LLMs, agents, RAG, or vector databases.
• Hands-on use of AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, Copilot, Claude Code, Windsurf).
• Secure coding, CI/CD, HIPAA-compliant software delivery, and healthcare interoperability standards.

Get Well is seeking a visionary and technically adept Staff Software Engineer to architect, design, develop, and optimize our cloud-native healthcare platform while driving the adoption of AI-First and AI-Augmented Software Engineering practices.

This role is pivotal in shaping the future of software development at Get Well by combining deep technical expertise with modern AI-assisted engineering workflows. As we evolve toward an AI-First engineering organization, this leader will champion the use of Generative AI, AI development assistants, and Agentic AI to improve developer productivity, software quality, and engineering velocity.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in software architecture, cloud-native application development, AI-enabled engineering, and distributed systems. This role provides technical leadership across multiple engineering teams, ensuring high standards for architecture, code quality, reliability, security, and AI adoption. This is a hands‑on leadership role where strategic thinking meets deep engineering execution within a complex healthcare environment.

This position reports to the Director, Product Development and requires close collaboration with software engineers, AI engineers, product managers, DevOps, QA, and compliance specialists.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

• Define and drive the architecture of scalable, distributed healthcare platforms.
• Champion AI-First Software Engineering practices across the development lifecycle.
• Lead the adoption of AI-Augmented Development, including spec-driven development, AI-assisted coding, code reviews, testing, and documentation.
• Establish engineering standards, Cursor/AI coding guidelines, reusable patterns, and governance for responsible AI usage.
• Provide hands‑on leadership in architecture, coding, design reviews, debugging, and performance optimization.
• Mentor engineers and foster an engineering culture that embraces continuous learning and AI-driven innovation.

Product Development

• Design and implement scalable cloud-native services and APIs supporting healthcare interoperability (FHIR, HL7, CDA).
• Build highly available microservices leveraging Kubernetes, Docker, Kafka, cloud-native technologies, and modern data platforms.
• Develop and integrate Agentic AI workflows leveraging enterprise AI platforms and healthcare data.
• Drive adoption of AI-assisted software development workflows to accelerate feature delivery while improving software quality.

AI-Augmented Engineering

• Lead the adoption of Spec-Driven Development, where engineering specifications serve as the foundation for AI-generated implementations.
• Promote the use of AI to generate production-ready code, unit tests, test cases, documentation, and automation artifacts.
• Partner with QA teams to establish AI-assisted development and testing workflows that improve engineering quality.
• Evaluate emerging AI tools and frameworks and define best practices for integrating them into the engineering lifecycle.
• Drive measurable improvements in engineering productivity through responsible AI adoption.

Collaboration

• Partner with Product Management, UX, Clinical teams, AI Engineers, and Platform Engineering to deliver innovative healthcare solutions.
• Collaborate closely with Security, Compliance, QA, and DevOps to ensure secure, reliable, HIPAA-compliant software delivery.
• Promote cross-functional collaboration between Development and QA through shared AI-assisted engineering workflows.

Innovation

• Lead research, evaluation, and adoption of emerging technologies including Large Language Models (LLMs), Agentic AI, AI copilots, and AI-assisted software engineering.
• Drive continuous improvement of engineering practices through automation and AI.
• Contribute to engineering strategy, architecture standards, and technical roadmaps.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years of software development experience, including 2+ years in a Principal Engineer, Staff Engineer, or equivalent technical leadership role.
• Proven experience building large-scale cloud-native distributed systems using AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or OCI.
• Strong expertise in Java, Python, Node.js, or Ruby/Rails.
• Deep understanding of microservices, API design, Kubernetes, Docker, messaging systems, and distributed architectures.
• Strong experience with modern frontend frameworks such as React, Vue.js, or Angular.
• Experience building or integrating AI-powered applications using Large Language Models (LLMs), AI Agents, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Vector Databases, or AI orchestration frameworks.
• Hands‑on experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Windsurf, or similar AI coding assistants.
• Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, design patterns, secure coding, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with healthcare interoperability standards such as HL7, FHIR, or CDA.
• Familiarity with HIPAA, healthcare security, and data privacy regulations.
